Greater ENERVATING POISON..as I understand it is supposed to pull down 2 things.......STRENGTH and CONSTITUTION. Strength means to me decreasing a mele characters ability to deal mele damage. Constitution means to me an ability to resist physical damage. GREATER EVERVATING POISON has a value of 118. When the poison is used for example on a banshee like mele character that fights with a staff AFTER I apply the enervating poison .i'm getting hit (fighting yellow BADH )wearing yellow leather armor on my 49 for 179/hit. IS GREATER ENERVATING POISON WORKING AS INTENDED ?

Well staff is DEX based and you are debuffing STR , but tbh im not even sure stat debuffs work on NPCs.

This doesn't debuf CONSTITUTION TOO ? I would think debuf SHOULD work on NPC's.

You said you are "getting hit" for 179: this has nothing to do with debuffing CON.
Staff is DEX based and you are debuffing STR and expecting to take less damage: not gonna happen.

This is assuming debuffs work on NPCs, and i am not even sure they do.

You should try this stuff with a /duel and def not against a staff user.

edit. by all means never inc a friar you would be shocked by the damage he still does after the STR/CON debuff

The question is...is CONSTITUTION being reduced by 118 ? I cannot imagine such high CON levels that 118 would not make a very significant difference.

"Constitution means to me an ability to resist physical damage."

I think that's the problem.
Sounds lile you are confusing CON and AF, CON gives you more HP, it doesnt make you (or your target) more resistant to physical damage, hence debuffing CON does not make your target more vulnerable to physical damage.

But again, i wouldnt test poisons on NPCs.

Well thats not 100% true. Con debuffs on mobs work like an absorb debuff.

Isn’t it a weapon skill/con debuff here?

A difference in what? You never mentioned your own damage against the mob. A Con debuff will only affect the damage you do against the mob, not what the mob does to you.

If you debuff con or strength on mobs they take more dmg because their absorb is lower.

guys there is no str/con debuff here .... its WS/con debuff, so it should debuff staff dmg too.
therefore the next question has to be for how much would a caster hit you without debuffs.

for me as a melee warden player i do around 130 dmg with 50 blunt average on an assassin so i assume it could very well be that a 2h weapon hits for around 200 even with debuffs

While it is intuitive to think that a CON debuff on NPC's lower their healthpool, it doesn't work like that in Daoc (or on Phoenix). A debuff to CON will only reduce the ABS (absorption) thus reducing the damage loss you have from your WS, weapon damage and enemy ABS. They do have resistances but not stats as far as I know.

I don't know if mobs have WS, and if WS debuff will reduce their damage output though.
