Make Epic rewards a lot more EPIC

My ranger got his epic quest and I was unimpressed with the items...and there was NO BOW as a reward. The items really should be more special. In DAOC they were.

Uh I'm pretty sure the classic epic quests were just armor...

As a former dozen year + player of regular DAOC I can assure you a bow (actually you chose from several bows) was part of the epic equipment the king awarded you. I would assume that continues to be the case to this very day though I left the game some time ago.)

You never got to the King in classic/si/toa times. So no. You get weapons in earlier epics but not with the Level 50 one

Wasn't the King added in Darkness Rising? Are you actually talking about champion weapons? That's 3 expansions after what this server is aiming for so yeah.... I don't get why this is an issue anyway, just buy a crafted bow...

I guess ....... it depends on what the definition of EPIC is.To me if the items are ones I can go down the street and buy from many vendors...that is is NOT EPIC. Personally I feel I have made my point and will not belabor this subject further. Let the devs do what they will.

My Hero's epic armor sold for 1.4P, that was EPIC to me.

You are referring to the Champion weapons.

The epic quest line gave rewards sub-50, but the only level 50 reward was the armour.

Yeah I believe the level 40 epic reward was a 100% quality weapon. Was only good until level 43 or so.

Correct, by this version only armor back in the days.
However, i agree that the actual original epic armor could be somehow... upgraded to something more interesting (playing with the idea to salvage the sets on my toons each time i see the 6 occupied slots in their vaults, but still hoping of a potential upgrade lol).
What would however be really nice, is to set the quest start by 49 instead of 50 (with a decent exp reward?), making it that way more useful as it is right now.

But i think our Phoenix team has enough work without adding to their charge more stuff. Maybe something to think about in the future. =)

I think the point has been made. If you can go and buy any of the items in housing ..the items are not epic. I frankly would not have an epic quest until you are ready to deliver on the promise of "EPIC" .

You do realize in this game EVERY item can be bought and sold in housing.

WoW which has BoP items is that way ——->

WOW is now the standard for what should and should not be in this game ?

You asked for items that cannot be bought and sold in housing.
Which is not how this game has ever been designed nor should it be.

I suggested a game that does use those mechanics as it seems it might be more to your liking.

You do one quest, go kill an NPC--hardly epic--and you want massive rewards?

Are you trolling?

Epic quest is called epic because on live it was the end of a quite long and in-depth story, starting from solo level 7 and ending with a bunch of friends in the frontier zones, covering a huge aspect of your class and house/guild/path background. Besides, when these quests had been added the armor stats were quite impressive.

Now it's mostly a shiny armor with funny stats. On some classes however, a few parts may still be interesting in a template as they lower the overall cost : I used helmet gloves and boots on my healer's for example.

There's an epic quest because its in the 15 year old version of the game that this server emulates. They're delivering exactly what people are expecting, which is the epic armor you got back then.

Silly me...I thought this server offered game play that sometimes was not always the exact same as on regular DAOC.

The Epic armour is a decent start for a new 50. My Theurg, with just the epic, and some ROG I already had, has almost capped stats (-4 int) and all resists above 20%, except one at 19. It was good enough for me to hit RvR pretty much right away, and if I decide to really go all out on the template, there are other options for that. (I probably would if it was not Beta.)

I may have missed it, but I didn't read your proposal : storyline, mobs stats and rewards for each class on each realm. Including the reasons why it should be changed.

I myself had no problem with TOA other then the Master Levels, but what do you mean by epic? You can reskin your items to look gorgeous now on phoenix.

While this is not intended to be a hardcore 1.65 server, changing items to cater more to the likes of TOA, Cata, DS and Laby is not something I want to see. I don't want cap increase, I don't want more stats to work with, I want the plain vanilla / SI stats, make my template and be off to PVP.

This game has never had anything "EPIC" about it. They remade the epic armor, remade the "Epic" drops of dragon and SI dungeons on live to keep them attractive and up to par with the current content, but there is no need to add that to a 1.65 oriented server. Leave the stats as it is, but continue to tweek and balance the classes to make them viable for pvp.
