Server Wipe then Mordred Style

See title. Let's reset this thing while folks are still working from home.

I vote we reset it for OF and remove tasks.

And people will go back to PvEing 24/7.

The tasks were required because without them people would just PvE. Maybe it changed but RvR participation was low until they added these tasks in.

All the changes the Phoenix staff made were needed to balance DaoC for todays playerbase. The classic DaoC is not a balanced and a longterm healthy game by itsself.

-You need RR catchup tools = Tasks and RP bonus for lower RR

-You need QOL for zerg to be noob friendly (and dedicated zergleaders we luckily have here) = special zerg tasks and keeptake RPs are in healthy shape

-You need fast PvE to get to 50 fast and be able to participate in endgame RvR (well, as of late Phoenix has been having some problematic ideas with inst bonus crippling but im sure they will tune it up again soon enough and we should see more new player bonuses (like BIG bonuses +100% for the grp when someone doesn't have a lvl50 yet or so) = PvE Tasks and a lot of mob type and grp member bonuses are in effect.

-You need to buff underpowered classes at this patchlevel = pala, warden, friar, cleric have been slightly improved, some oppressive classes have been tuned down a bit. This custom balancing is not final yet and will see more useful tweaks ofc, while the actual fights still feel like classic DaoC.

-Support for 8v8 is in effect /gvg toggle /gvg list /gvg cleanfight

-Support for smallmen is intended and will be seeing more small v small support in the future surely.

-Support for solos is intended and is currently in the process of being worked out towards a intended exciting playstyle of solos without being punished for soloing.

-some style changes have been made to balance the realms (bleeds dont break cc, so every realm can use their high growth rate styles)

-custom endgame PvE content = DS, HoH and more to come

---------------- I have never seen a DaoC server so successful at battling the natural flaws of classic DaoC and i much appreciate the work of the DEVs. Have faith and support them with information to keep the game exciting and enjoyable for the playstyle(s) you personally play----------------------------

I agree. Now that most changes have been made, let's reset this thing and bring back a high NA population. High RR was achieved before many of these changes and the account sharing ban.

I started this game after NF, and I have a rr10 ranger that I upped 90% in solo. Since then, I have a NS almost 7L 100% in solo and 3 toons 7L mentalist 6L bard and 5L vw.
I never once thought the high rr people were a problem.

If you wipe the server, I am done, and I know a lot of people that will go too. I don't think you want a dead server.

How bout an alternative to this stupid idea:

Add Labyrinth, and give the zone the Mordred ruleset. Free-for-all if you want, avoid it if you don't want.

We are nearing the brink of the dead server you mention, especially for NA. Yes, there's a handful of set 8s. When folks return to working outside of their homes, Phoenix may only have a decent population during Euro primetime on the weekends.

Phoenixes literally cyclically regenerate. Their DNA is rebirth.

Yeah it's dying all the time according to this forum. Meanwhile le population is quite stable overall, and even better than before Xmass. Compared to last year, there are 300 people more on average. Facts > feelings.

I generally agree with you on things, but I believe the population rise could at least partially be due to Covid-19 lockdowns. Surely we will see a dip when things become more normal again. Though maybe the US will continue to rise in both Covid cases, and Phoenix players for a while longer.

yes but the rise started before the lockdown in Europe. Compare March to March.

Regardless, wiping everyone's characters and setting the server to the least played ruleset ever is absolutely, positively not a good way to deal with population fluxes.
