Reintroduce a proper realm switch timer

Im talking realm switch timer of 5-7 days. You have to activcate it 5 or respectively 7 days before the switch takes place and can play in your former realm until 4 hrs before the switch. Ofc you can cancel the switch at any time, but then the countdown resets. Im really sick and tired of all the relic surfers and want to promote a system which encourages a decision by heart and not by chance.

Players voted on a reduced realm timer and many vocally advocated for none, which is where we have arrived. And that suites me just fine. Heck if they wanted to remove the timer completely even after RvR participation I don’t think I’d complain but I understand why it is how it is and am ok with it.

Are you also sick of the server and want it to die? Because the ridiculousness you're suggesting would lead to an exodus of players greater than the introduction of NF did.

i doubt such a harsh restriction would have been a good idea from the start

i am convinced going to such a strict restriction this late would be a catastrophe

I don't think days would be a good idea, what would you expect people to do? Not play at all?

Perhaps some sort of debuff, say reduced RPs for 24 hours if you switch realms.

Edit, perhaps even a buff for loyalty rather than a debuff for disloyalty? A buff that builds over time, then resets if you participate in PvP for another realm (and starts building on that realm)

Thx for all the answers. Actually I didnt know there was a vote about it and if majority of players sees it differently, than so be it.
I was then thinking in the same direction like you Davote, to reward loyalty by rp gain buffs.
Not going through the roof but maybe smth like 1% per day you are staying at one realm, adding up to like 5-10% more rp gain. Stacking with Potion of Boldness the overall 15% would be a nice and noticeable reward I think while not being too OP.

You have failed to logically argue why this would be good for the overall state of the server.
At the end of the day, players democratically voted for reduction of realm timer.
I suspect that had an option of NO REALM TIMER been included in that prior vote, it would have won.
Your suggestion is well-intentioned but a bad idea.

Because some players flip realms depending on who has the biggest zerg, Hib was taking a beating this week, population numbers plummeted, this weekend it looks to be Mids that are going to have the entire frontier rinsed...which is bad for overall health. For every realm tourist there is someone that just goes and farms instead of dealing with zero portal options.

Live went down the route of free-for-all flipping and it has resulted in one realms near total dominance, instead of 3 realms competing.

this is exactly what i do... im not going to travel 15 min for getting steamrolled anyway... i log another realm for lvling or go off completly. if people are so dumb to raid all keeps then they should starve from that.
really this game is known for its great pvp combat, instead here on phoenix ppl hit on doors.

its the task system that promotes shitty game play, not the realm timer.

Well I explain my opinion

I agree with those who want to increase the realm timer to switch realm.

I don't think it is necessary to raise it much, it would be enough to raise it to 1 - 2 days

however, even 4 hours were acceptable, but the most serious damage was done by eliminating the pve from the timer to switch.

Why ? because now many players log on Hib and make an animist for farm plats and then transfer them to their realm where they have the RvR toons to buy the TP.

Or with the money made on a realm you make the tp (exp at 50 just a little work now) in the realm with the largest zerg or that has more relics.

in summary imho:
- NO to timer 0 for PvE
- YES at timer 1 - 2 days for RvR

No thanks as a casual player that plays with family in my house and outside it, I like to be able to switch realms to what everyone wants to play. And when I get to play alone I can switch to the realm I want to play
