Damage add value in ranger pf

Damage add value. What does it mean? Is the value a % increase to damage? Does the damage get calculated by increasing dps? I am curious on what the value of the damage add affects how much damage it does...

It is more or less a percentage, not a flat rate. I think it ends up being around 10% of whatever your damage is at the highest spec

IE if you hit for 100 you'll get an additional + 10 from the top spec damage add.

I believe it's closer to adding a flat dps per swing.

If the DA value is 10.0 and you're swinging every 2 seconds you should expect to see about 20ish dmg per swing. You should typically see the dmg decrease slightly if you swing faster and the dmg increase if you swing slower.

I'm unsure if there's a 0.25x bonus for dmg adds like stat buffs. I do know there's usually a damage type associated with damage adds so I'm guessing they are affected by resists in some way as well.

So it's like a separate weapon swing? Or does it add to the dps of a weapon? And how does a damage add effect an offhand swing?

You'll see it as separate line in the combat log. I think the default color is blue text for those effects. If both hands swing and connect you'll see a line for the damage add effect adding damage to each swing. If you swing and miss the damage add won't do anything. It should work for your bow shot as well.

It is almost exactly as listed, in per second values of your ACTUAL swing speed at the time you are swinging.

Did a quick test on the training dummy.

Dex= 376
5.5 MP bow
35+18 archery = 53 composite
Top dmg add = 9.4 value

Rapid fire 1.5 sec
dmg = 147 dmg add = + 16

Regular shot 2.9 sec
dmg = 292 dmg add = +29

Crit shot 3.4 sec
dmg = 585 dmg add = +32

3.9 speed rapier 52 pierce
dmg= 87 dmg add = +21

All the above were after resist...I do have capped quickness and some mastery of archery so not sure how that affects...but at least you get the idea.

it's correct and you can see that the add dmg adds more or less speed of shot x10 which makes sense becaise it's 9.4 dmg per second (it's a little bit more or less for whatever reason)

It either a) may still be subject to RNG or b) there is a slight speed variation per shot/swing that we just aren't seeing.

I was thinking about number 2, because the weapon speed is never exactly 4.2 5.5 or whatver. A 5.59 speed weapon will be shown as a 5.5 IG.

The listed weapon speed is the listed weapon speed. The variation would come in the form of (in the case of a dual wielder) whether or not your offhand swings, or there might be some small variance in the code that we haven't accounted for.
