Solo porters

please allow the open porting from relic towns to solo areas without the need for a death in the area. Currently if you die within the solo towns you are able to port there via town. Unless however you die outside of the solo area (even if you had died there previously) then you must once again die at the solo towns to be able to port causing a bit of a headache and lack of action at these areas.

I’ve been able to semi afk for an hour at these locations without being killed by enemy players is how little they are used. This fix could benefit solo players to be able to find better fights without as high of a risk of being ran down by groups. And also helping the non speed/visible classes get to fights faster should they choose to solo with less risk of being steamrolled.

Sounds like a good place to put items for a Supply quest, to attract players to these areas!

I’m not trying to have a task added to the area. That would be counter productive imo to a solo type area since it would most definitely bring more than just solos to the area for the supply task..

I respect your opinion, but if these areas become popular the result will be the same.

not really. its a different sort of person it will attract. taskers are all rp hungry adding cunts. ppl who generally go to the solo zones dont add, but no one really uses them anymore. every now and then when a lot of soloers still played there would be late night duel clubs and shit. i havent been or seen spam from the solo zones in a long time.
that reminds me, having the death spam from the solo zone actually show the solo zone name is a bad idea (it used to, not sure if it does still) as soon as any group or small man sees it, they just come through and kill everyone they can.

My suggestion was just to bring players to the area in the first place.

i dont think getting ganked by other soloers is a gank as much as an organic fight. assuming youre not talking about s1 vulturing s1 after a fight. idk, the solo zone is a good idea on paper but no one uses it or cares about it

What i mean is, there is no rule against a 3man or even an 8man to roam in these areas, while they wont get credit for the solo area task, they will still be around more often than you think, simply because there are more players there. Hang out south of surs by the zombies for 20 minutes if you need an example of what I mean.

Thats exactly what would happen, because thats exactly what DID happen. If they know theres solos there, they go for easy rps. Which is why a solo zone will never work.

To be honest, while not an absolute resolution rubble/box quests gathering while waiting for group is probably where i got most of my solo kills on live, simply because they were so spread out. But, it's impossible to avoid ganks no matter what system is implemented (that stays true to the heart of RvR atleast).

Of course, this is just my suggestion. i'm sure there are others.

You will always have griefers regardless of how the port works or if a task was added. This is more of a suggestion in regards to a ‘safer’ area for solos to find fights at since the current state of Phoenix really doesn’t allow for soloing due to just being ran down in the open since classes that lack speed or stealth will be ran down most times before they even make it to the solo areas. Yes groups will most likely come by and grief solos there, but this is already the state of the game and solo is almost non-existent.

kind of like an instanced Arena? I'm not sure if that is in the scope of what the devs want, they've touched on the topic before somewhere in here.

Yes, gankers would still roam through and people would add. That imo is not a bigger problem for soloers than their current options.
Are the naysayers really saying that MORE 1vs1 would get added in the solozones, compared to the current hotsppts around bled/beno/DC??? Come on...

Being able to just port there, regardless of where you died, would enable you to easily chexk out if someone is there and then move on, do something else and check back after next death.
Currently simply checking if anyone is there takes quite long, especially for chars without speed. And since it is mostly empty noone bothers to even take a look and it is a self fulfilling prohecy.

If it fails and is still not used....what harm is done?

No. Not like an instanced area... please read my posts. I’m strictly talking about the solo areas already in place within New Frontiers, Folley Lake, Trellebourg, and Moydruim castle. I’m not asking for any instance at all. This is just a change for the current solo port system to make it open to port at all times.

its more of just known as the solo zone. they should really remove the names in the kill spam though. it alerts every rp hungry small man and 8 man in the tri-state area.

Things to help solo gameplay:

1) no requirement to port to the solo keep
2) when using /fairfight and at the solo keep allow the name of the keep to be advertised instead of the zone ( i.e., folley lake over hadrians)
3) give maybe 100-200 rps on a /fairfight cleanfight


these are 3 simple things that can help solo play

I ran to the solo zone in mid the other day. Hoping to find some nice solo fights. Guess who was in there?

A FG of high RR hibs were in there killing solos. Talk about Fkn garb.

Insta port there would be nice for sure.

What about not awarding RPs / kills to groups killing solos in the solo area?

That removes their motivation / reward for the behaviour.

Have you seen the amount of tears from the scrubs who can’t fight their way out of a wet paper bag? At this point I doubt we’ll get horses. But I’m no longer going to push something that has little interest from GMs. Just gonna wait on New World.

I don't really understand why people think horses are a huge boost for solo play. I'm asking this honestly, but what is the reasoning there?

I can see it helping some occasionally but I don't think it's going to dramatically improve the solo life on this server. Hastener speed isn't usually too far away no matter where you are. With a mount you don't have to expose yourself to hit the dock for speed but you're also a gigantic fucking blob running around that is impossible to miss. This probably cancels out the reduced risk of not having to go to the dock.

Even if you want to run to the deepest zones in the enemy frontier, your hastener speed will last long enough to get you there from the boat drop or solo zone. The biggest thing I feel like mounts will do is make it a lot easier for xp killers to move from spot to spot.

I'm pretty indifferent on having them in RvR and think both sides are overreacting some in the debate. I don't play much if my friends aren't on and three of my four 50s are bard, sorc, skald so maybe I'm a little out of touch but just curious.
