Why is Phoenix Better?

I played live for what seems like "forever" and quit several years ago and moved to Uthgard. Played Uthgard for a while but the pop just died off so I left. Just saw some streams with what looked like active RVR and it got me curious. Myself and 3 of my old crew "were" planning on returning to uthgard but I wanted to check this server out.

Not being rude but someone tell me why I should bring my friends here over Uthgard? I mean what makes this server special? I am honestly curious.

PS: I looked around, didn't see this so will ask ...

This isn't an I50 is it?
Whats the population like on the 3 realms?
I see the server has newer races, does it also have newer classes such as Vamps and Warlocks?

First of all, welcome to the forums.
I too am a DAOC junky (since 2001)
I also tried Uthgard, so have a reasonable idea of how to compare.
To answer your questions:
1. This isn't an i50 server. It is just currently in the latter stages of beta test in with a release date set for January 12th, 2019 3 a.m. PST.
2. Currently there are usually 100-200 people active during most playtimes. Since it's in beta testing and everything will be wiped in late December prior to launch you can take that for what it's worth. (In my opinion very little) I'm relatively sure launch will be at least comparable to Uthgard launch. Maybe/ hopefully not the 4,000+ trying to get on the first week. I wouldn't be surprised if the first month boasts around 2,000 players. (Highly speculative of course and just my opinion) Also, the population per realm is varying at the moment due to no realm switch time now. This will NOT be the case at launch.(12 hour switch timer)
3. The server targets 1.65 with many QOL items of interest that are too numerous to count. (I seriously suggest looking at the official website and check all that out) Since this is the case, there are no vamps, warlocks, heretics, or maulers. Although new RAs have recently been introduced and are being tested as we speak.
Overview:
Since it is F2P and easy to get in, I'd not hesitate to recommend trying it out for beta. If testing and knowing effort will be wiped makes this seem like a waste of time, wait 2 months and give it a try. If having fun is you and your buddy's goals then go ahead and try it now. Get a jump start since its i50, free RR 5L9, and unlimited free respecs to test out spec and RA possibilities.

The best thing about Phoenix is that John and the Broadsword cronies have no say in how the server is run.

Question. I figured out how to get insta level 50, but when I did me level 50 the realm rank didn't come with it. How is the realm rank done? I went to the class trainer.

You have to talk to the "master trainer" in SF, emain, hadrian's, or port to "event" at porter and go to Cathal Valley and the portal keep there has one(master trainer) as well. I suggest in game for questions using /advice channel as global chat for questions for faster responses.

All reals are usually friendly and helpful for the most part

Check out the wiki if you want specifics, they have a good amount of general changes and realm changes on there.

This is the same patch level aim as Uthgard, but without the 5 day grind to 50, the devs aim is ~48 hours to 50 plus they have task items in the game and Phoenix eggs for when people are solo grinding or farming task items which helps close the gap.

They just added NNF RAs as of last week, and are in the process of tweaking/balancing the RA system and classes.

After having played the whole beta on Uthgard, and watching it decline from a 4k pop on launch to a ghost town I knew what could be, but they were stubborn in their vision and unwilling to compromise for the betterment of the community and health of the game. Phoenix devs have proven they want to make changes for the overall health of the server and not just their playground, plus they can admit when they messed up a change and then find a compromise/middle ground to a change.

ROG drops while leveling will keep you char likely in full blues and stat capped all the way to 50, plus free respecs from 1-49 and they will have a /train feature that lets you train from wherever you are in the world. Also basic porters (none in RvR zones) which save you those long 15 minute horse rides.

Phoenix has also added tasks for RvR which will generate people to come out and play over sitting in PvE zones.

Relics are not game breaking and defining, they are a slow ramp up to 10% bonus after 10 days.

There are A LOT of solid QoL that was added here vs. Uthgard, but overall the staff and developers have just proven by their commitment to quality and serving the players in the community which really leads me to believe that this environment will stay healthy and active for a long time to come.

Right now Phoenix is not better. This server makes playing a stealther easier than ever. I’m afraid the server will turn into stealth wars. I will still put forth an effort after it goes live but I have my doubts.

Ganaka makes a good point. Assassins in particular are too strong on this server.

Considering the main reason I avoid live is the OP stealth classes... I see no reason to play another "OP stealth" server.
