Charges and Potion just make the game unbalanced and create a requirement to use to compete. They also destroy the balance of classes with self buffs and the purpose of group buffers. Just remove them the game already
Buffs create huge disparities that hurt the balance of the game. I get that you like your self-buffer, but really, why should buffs exist in first place, which give artificial advantage? They create large disparities that favor large groups over small groups (as if numbers weren't already an advantage--it's called 'win even more' design) and create significant pressure to build groups around specific classes, weakening the diversity overall.
To give examples of performance of classes without buffs:
A caster unbuffed will cast at 50% cast speed--wow what a debuff! Now he can't solo--why shouldn't he able to?
An unbuffed assassin: wow he PA for 250 damage! What an opener!
Without buffs, all classes perform like a joke in this game. And if you get rid of buff potions/charges completely, you've tailored the game such that only very specific visible comps are competitive. As long as the rest of the trashy classes fight amongst themselves, I suppose it'll work.
Buffs are deeply classic so it's not going to change, but I only hope to illustrate the absurdity buffs provide, which most players have accepted uncritically. So what's worse, no buffs, or all buffs? I think no buffs.
