Names reserved? - Phoenix Freeshard

I saw the update from Vivien today regarding the end of beta in December. However I also saw something about whatever characters are created this weekend will be saved for launch as far as names go? Is this correct? Does that mean there will be a wipe before this weekend? Or are all the characters we have created already count for keeping the name? How will this work? Sorry if I'm off here - just want to understand the situation and I believe it's pretty important given the implications.

great question, my thoughts also. I'm betting the server will be wiped of all i50 toons and started with live (launch) settings. Characters made 'at that point" would be saved in name only once live goes "live"

i interpreted it the same, server will be wiped, then reopenend with live settings and all characters will be saved (but reset to lvl1/no money/etc...)

they didn't expicitly state that, but since the will also have a realm lock it sounds as if they want you to only be able to reserve chars on one realm

When they open for the stress test, you can make characters to reserve names.

Yep, all will be wiped before the stresstest. All names that are created at the stresstest will be saved (toons will be resetted to lvl 1, no items, etc before Live).

Will characters be moved back to starting locations, or will they log in where ever they were last? I'm aware this doesn't really matter considering all the teleporters, just curious.

I'll be moving somewhen between Dec and Jan and won't be able to play when the server goes live but I still hope to be able to at least get my favorite names during the stress test.

Ok so to be clear, there is no wipe this weekend (November 9). The wipe will be before the stress test weekend in early January. Is this correct?

Vivien said the server would go down for maintenance on Dec 21st, and then back up for the stress-test weekend in early January. That would imply no wipe this weekend!

The wipe (all chars on your account will be deleted) will happen between Dec 21st and Jan 3rd (when the server is closed for public). Then we will open the server for Jan 4th, 5th, and 6th. Thats the time when you can create chars, stress test the server, reserve your names. Jan 7th till Jan 12th the server will be closed again. All items, progress on chars, etc will be wiped again.

When you login on Jan 12th (launch of the server) you will have naked chars (except binstone and training weapon) with zero gold, xp, items, whatsoever, those chars will have the name, that you gave them when you created them during the stress test.

If you already know where you want to begin xping at launch, you can log out your toons at the end of the stress test at the spot where you want to start. This could be interesting if people want to xp together. It might also be a good choice to log at a spot that is not that popular. For example in Hibernia you might bring your toons to Howth, Ardee or Connla as Mag Mell and Domnan will be pretty full of people.

Also keep in mind, that your bindpoint will not be deleted.
