Update, News and Recap of recent events

Hello,

The staff and I wanted to take the time to provide a little summary of what has taken place within the last few days/weeks and maybe provide a little news. But first we want thank all players who have been actively breaking the server and helping us locate bugs. Furthermore, We would like to extend another shout out to the groups and players that have shown up to participate in some scheduled PvP testing last Tuesday and Thursday. We feel that it was a great success and it has helped us squash a few bugs. We are actively correcting these issues as we prepare for our upcoming Open Beta sometime Mid-June.

I also wanted to share with you some new features that have been added and some things that you can expect to see in the future as we grow together.

Recently added features:

- We now have a /craftqueue command which allows the players to automatically queue up items to be crafted. We understand that 17 years of crafting in DAoC has taken a toll and to avoid policing Macro Crafting - we have just built it right into the game. Click here for more Information
- We are implementing a /challenge mode. More will be revealed in the coming weeks but basically if the group leader types this command the mobs they are killing become MUCH stronger but provide better exp and increased percentage of dropped ROG Items. Click here for more Information

Coming soon:

- You should soon see an active News section when you log in to help notify you of bug fixes. This should help with a couple of things such as, ensuring the bug is correctly addressed and that players know to test other aspects of the game as well.
- We will have our OWN launcher. This should help with easing the access to the server and will prevent players from running their own patch. For example: We have seen some players not have doors on mile gates and this provides them with an advantage over other players. We need to ensure everyone is on an even playing field.

Recent Staff Decisions

- We have decided to allow earning Realm Points for Healing and Rezing your realm mates. Please note we are make a very conscious effort to not inflate RPs for these actions and the amount that will be earned will be minimal, but should help fuel classes that can take advantage of this for zerg fighting. Believe it or not - Zerg fighting IS healthy for the game.
- We will be limiting Concentration buffs to 5000 units. This should help prevent buff botting.
- We have decided to remove the Pre-Requisite for obtaining the RA Serenity.
- We have decided to increase the range of Cure Disease and Cure Poison to 2000.
- We have decided to implement the New Frontiers Static Tempest for Thanes.

Upcoming Events:

- On May 26th we plan to have another staff meeting. I am sure one of the topics of discussion will be a particular date for the Beta instead of a general time frame.
- We would love to continue having arranged fights for further bug testing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8:30ish Central / 9:30ish Eastern and of course 20.00 Uhr Central European Time.

Closing Remarks

We are so excited to see how active the Alpha has been. I can tell you that it is helping us to stay motivated to providing a good, clean and smooth DAoC server for your enjoyment. We look forward to having more PvP fight nights. If you are not currently in the Alpha and you want to participate in such events, please feel free to contact Staff so we can make arrangements for you. Now that I have been brought in as Community Manager, I hope to keep everyone updated as much as possible. This will allow our World Builders and our Developers to focus on the main task at hand - getting this server deployed as soon as possible.
