Realm Choice - Phoenix Freeshard

Hello All!

I used to play Daoc way way back in the day (circa 2002ish until 2013ish). I primarily played on Mordred/Andred and some other servers after those went down.

I'm in a toss up right now with which realm to roll on, at least for a primary. I have seen, through perusing the forums that it appears that Mid is the biggest realm followed by Hib and then Alb. Class wise, I like a few from each realm so I'm not super picky, I just don't want to add to a population imbalance. I will say that cave shammy/skald is probably my 2 most favorite classes and I really like Hib for the scenery. Alb is pretty "meh" to me visually but I do like quite a few of the classes there.

So, in your opinion which realm should I roll to? Which realm needs people the most?

Just join midgard... everyone is joining the others and rerolling anyway because they have perks like skald with determination and extra hp compared to alb/hib

Most are rerolling because mids aren't picky when forming RvR groups while both Hib and Alb will sit for ages or just leave people out for the perfect group.

Come to Mid if you want to just have fun and play the game without elitism as much =)

Yup, that's exactly it, join mid to zerg since they routinely have 100+ more than the other realms.

Yup, that's exactly it, join mid to zerg since they routinely have 100+ more than the other realms.

If you check RvR numbers we rarely have 100+ since a lot of people on Mid do PvE.

You missed the point though which doesn't surprise me...

I played Hib and got 4 toons to 50. I did RvR and raids and everything else in the first month and I got sick and tired of seeing people ONLY asking for the perfect group for fast leveling and ONLY asking for the perfect peple for an RvR group.

You want perfect, that's fine, but I prefer a fun casual atmosphere and while Mid has its own share of elitists, during my playing time it happens to be very friendly and open to any class, but keep in mind this is my personal experience.

I havent seen this issue on Alb, however it's likely you're playing a different playtime like EU primetime vs me NA primetime. Given the snarky response that's my guess. In either case midgard is the largest realm period and have many non-OF buffs which I attribute to devs/GMs playing the class or realm.

I only get snarky when someone gives me snarky...or something like that...

Anyway I am very easy going which is why I enjoy it here.

I only lasted a week on Alb before I quit and moved to Hib...

I have seen some of the elitist attitude on Alb, but I am in a good alliance that doesn't seem to have as much of that, at least for RvR zerging. (We had an inf and 2 necros in our group the other day.)

I play hib and mid. I'd say the atmosphere is more relaxed in mid. You will find it easier to find a group as a melee class in mid.

That being said, try out the realms for yourself. Ultimately, what the server needs is people playing the game.

I completely agree, i played alb on prydwen and was hoping for a warm welcome, i was let down by the next generation elitists. So far mid has been a great experience, it seems all the old timers are there, i think i will make it my new home.

Mids aren't picky about groups? Really? Many Albs are super picky, even with pve groups.

This is a modern updated version of daoc bringing fun to the realm vs realm war makeing everyone welcome and all classes playable.

Elitists helped destroy anthour server i hope they have learned there lesson.

But if not seems phonix and people run it will give them kicking they deserve with changes and updates to make game what it is suppose be realam vs realm war with every class and person welcome to have fun.

the problem with elistists in this game is they will always 8v8 or that will be their preference. They very rarely like to be zerging. They honestly have no idea how that hurts the game too, theyre completely oblivious to it.

They are also usually the types to take this game so seriously they will yell and cry if you make one mistake in 8v8. My understanding is Hib has the worst 8mans for that at the moment.

In your choice though, id personally go alb as they seem to have the most relaxed players. I was running in the alliance a few nights ago and we wiped a couple of times to some silly mistakes and the leader was just like "eh we'll regroup and go back guys no biggie". So that was comforting to see.

Albs needs help. BAD.

We have DF maybe 5-10% of the time, Mids have it like 50%, Hibs have it 40%. We need more Albs in RVR.

Albs are not under represented for population, but I rarely see them come into RvR. I see Hib/Mid all the time.

Hard to do effective pugs in alb.

The problem is, people want the perfect pug.

I played Alb and got a Cleric to 50 very early. It was stupid how people waited around for the perfect 8 man instead of just going with what we had and adding whoever would help.

Then I went Hib and got Bard/Druid/Menty to 50 and had the same problem. Guild groups would go out with fewer or with non perfect groups, but /lfg would have a 7 man group sitting and waiting while they waited for 1 specific class before they would go.

Now in Mid I have a Skald and Shaman and working on a Thane and the typical group I join goes with at least 4 and adds whoever might be helpful instead of waiting for the perfect fit. I am not saying they don't happen, but I have very few issues with it now. It isn't uncommon for a group to invite my 38 RM just for the speed so they had something until a Skald joined and they kept me after instead of booting me and replacing with someone that would help a WHOLE lot more.
