Is anyone else just happy?

I enjoy browsing the forums and lately I've noticed an influx of fairly negative posts. These are usually trolls or people who are extremely opinionated and narrowminded, which is normal on any forum and especially a thing for F2P games.

But i feel like it's been over the top lately for no reason at all.

From my point of view

The game has never been as balanced before - I've never played on a server where classes feel as good and as close to perfect before. I'm not saying that all the archers are perfect when matched against each other. Or that they're in a good stat. All I'm saying is that with all things considered, most classes are in a very good state.

The server and the community is thriving - There's actually action and activity every time i login. And I'm not talking about zerg blobs, those are unavoidable in DAoC and people who have played this game for longer than a month should know this. I'm talking about leveling, raiding, taking keeps etc. The game/server feels alive.

DAoC is actually evolving and seeing new creative solutions - Beyond all the QoL changes like eggs, feathers, barrels, tasks and everything else that Phoenix introduced, we have a team of dedicated people willing to listen and even more important willing to try new things. I think it's awesome that they're constantly looking for ways to innovate in this game and make it more inclusive for all sorts of players. I can agree that sometimes it may not be perfect, but that's the only way to get better, they need to try new things out and improve upon them.

I'm not trying to make the devs better. I'm an adult who knows how it can feel when you provide a service for someone and how it can feel when you get a lot of negative feedback. As long as the dev team is willing to have a discussion with us I'm all good.

there are some things which I dont like, like 9sec slam or dragonfang, no speed pots and fgs running arround at off peak hours when there is hardly any action for them except solos.... despite that yeah its nice to have a free daoc server with a good population that you can find fights also the reaction time/communication from devs here is really great compared that to that from broadsword

You don't like stuns that have been in the game for 18 years? Huh? And there is speed for all classes, 10 minute hasteners + perma-sprint with a few RPs and draughts.

I'm pretty happy with most things as far as the game itself goes. My only real gripes right now are community-based, with the large amount of elitism, toxicity, and unwelcoming behavior I see on a daily basis.

I NEVER see any of those, at least not in Midgard. My experiences like zero toxicity, which is pretty surprising from daoc players.. well except "too much pve toxicity", but thats a different story. Server is great.

I'm still enjoying myself quite a bit.

People are just spoiled because of QoL, they think from their stand point, arguing that this or that should be nerfed, they think this or that should be a QoL, all of that without putting themselves in the opposite point of view. Pretty good reflection of the actual society

I think the devs are doing a great job. We are lucky to have them.

I am mostly happy. I think the solo/small man scene is hurting right now big time and it's an important aspect of end-game for a lot of people.

I spent 4 hours last night looking for a group with no success on a cold-debuff RM during prime time. It's not uncommon and many people share the same issue. The problem is there's nothing for people to do if they can't get a group besides try to run the stealther gauntlet and add on to a zerg fight. It just feels like you don't have an option, you either group or make a stealther. NF/NNF and Agramon added a lot of places for solo/small men to have fun if they couldn't get into a group. With OF right now it's only zerg or get perfed by vanishing stealthers (a situation that is pure annoyance, either die or barely survive without RPs anyway and lose your speed), with no in-between.

I think this is an issue because again a large part of the population at any point in the night may not be able to find a group and they lack alternatives. Sitting around LFG for hours isn't fun. We need to find an option for these people to participate without it being a complete donate-fest to stealthers.

And vanish just sucks. Has it been around since the beginning-I really don't remember. I just know that it feels very one sided for most people fighting them, they either lose quickly because they got PA'd like they're suppose to or they somehow turn the fight and the stealther gets to vanish and disappear, leaving the person attacked now without his hastener speed and RPless. I don't remember things feeling so one sided against stealthers before.

Vanish used to be the Infiltrator's special ability. Viper for NS. Not sure what SB got, nothing? Poor them.

But yeah, Vanish does feel pretty cheap. I'd reckon a lot of stealthers just go AFK for several minutes until Vanish is back up, since they'll get their RP task tick anyway.

I swear you had to be out of combat as an Inf to use it before, but maybe that's inaccurate. I just never remember on old live Infiltrators instantly disappearing while being wailed on by a tank or caster.

I keep hearing that Alb/Hib is quite the shitshow when it comes to grouping. Sucks, because I would like to play some classes I haven’t before, but the posts keep me on Mid.

Just be mindful that, as in the real world, the outspoken minority will often exaggerate their perception with broad/general statements that "their viewpoint is representative for the majority" when they are just pushing their own agenda.

On my part I'm not quite at the stage of doing RvR yet as I had a short nostalgic trip to Midgard before settling back on Hib But I am enjoying, for sure! Maybe I need to get some perspective from RvR before I'll start complaining, too (read: try my best to provide constructive criticism)

I am very happy. Only do rvr and its great.

If you like mindless RvR zerging to increase the number attached to your character, you'll love it here.

I'm happy.

Phoenix actually reminds me of old school classic DAoC which was a zergfest and a clusterf.

I'm pretty ambivalent about the tasks, don't really care but seems like they are making progress towards "not breaking DAoC" and "incentivizing more RVR".

I'm pretty happy here. I play Midgard so that's to be expected.
