I love Phoenix but I was a little disappointed to see that I can't do any of the quests because I wanted to find out the lore behind the game. Is there a good online source for this? The DAoC website is very spare in this department.

It's loosely based on viking, english/scottish and celtic history and culture/myths really.
It's kind of funny being a Swede, playing in Midgard. A ton of mob names and places are basically just swedish/scandinavian translations. NPCs have classic scandinavian names, housing towns are named after real towns and places etc. They actually put some effort into it.
