Hello currently leveling a cleric. not sure how shields function in daoc for classes with no shield skill.

is there a reason to use a certain shield type or size or level, as a cleric ?

Medium / large shields do have a slight increased chance to block projectiles (arrows and stuff), compared to small.
For melee attacks it does not increase the block chance, but allows to block more attacks at the same time (1/2/3).

So many times it will be that block that will save your butt after you have grabbed heal aggro and are being beat on while the peelers are frantically trying to save you.
