So far it has been amazing. Thank you so much for all the time and effort you've taken, I wish for this server to grow nicely with a happy and enjoyable community!
I agree. As someone who develops software and understand the pressure to get things to work and get them out on time. Yesterday was a testament to all the team involved in getting Pheonix running.
I'd say more but I want to get back on the server.
* I'm only posting because I'm at work and can't play. *
Server is great in pretty much every aspect.
It seems like the Phoenix staff has succeeded in what no one has really been able to achieve in over 15 years: to give the Classic DAoC community a true home again!
Feels good to retrieve a real pleasure to play this game. And thank you for the brilliant features you've developed to make it even more interesting (calculated loots, craft, tasks and more !!)
Amazing. Well done. My group of 4 was extremely skeptical following the last couple of classic server launches. But we were all very impressed with the experience you have created. You guys have really captured what made DAOC fun, and added great QoL that has virtually no negative affect.
The design decision to not focus on itemization and quest implementation, and instead focus on taking the base 1.65 patch level and balancing it, AND adding features such as ROG, realm tasks, etc... just well done is all I can say.
This should have 100 times the replies. I never thought I would experience old school DAoC again and you have nailed it. Me and some old buddies are having a blast reliving the past. So a sincere thank you to everyone that made this possible!
Chiming in! Had SO much fun last night revisiting old haunts and playing again. It's been a looong time, but still is a great game and everyone seemed to be having a good time.
For sure, looking very good so far! Leveling and crafting seem very solid, looking forward to frontier RvR.
Really gratifying to see so many bugs fixed and community suggestions taken seriously. Mythic/EA/Broadsword were never that responsive, and we all paid them a bunch of money over the years! :-)
Fantastic work! One of my favorite unexpectedly great changes was simply removing the base classes, as well as not treating respecs like they should be the hardest things to do in the game. Plenty of other QOL that just make the game far more accessible and fun. Look forward to all the great times to come!
Fantastic start, great performance, the two times the server went down didn't really matter. So many changes make perfect sense, it's really balanced in a way classic Daoc never was. Classes make sense, group composition is more flexible, exp speed feels about right, there are much fewer unnecessary time sinks. Nobody has to ride to the spot for 10 minutes, you don't have to go back to town to train and get your skills...
I've only played a little bit yesterday but I'm looking forward to playing a lot over the coming months.
What a great staff, community, and server. Reliving the past almost two decades ago with a fantastic game brought back to the modern MMORPG era with some great QoL additions and hindsight class balancing. I’m having such a great time!
Server is excellent: stable, thousands of players, groups all over the place. Very job well done on creating this server. I have a feeling Phoenix will last for years to come
Friggin awesome server look forward to many hours leveling my Ranger damn shame I have to go back to work this morning lol I'll be daydreamin about daoc 😭
Want to add my thanks and kudos on an amazingly smooth launch. Very stable and minimal issues. Active oversight by mods (hi again, Clockwork). An excellent experience all the way around.
Thank you for all your hard work. This is a trip down memory lane for me and even though I still play live, this is just what I was looking for as a way to get back to the days when was unmarried and still had a 34 inch waist.
Thanks Devs for the hard work and being open to community suggestions. Server has been pretty good so far in my experiences this week. Really appreciate all the work that goes into this.
My only minor gripe is I feel the XP is probably a touch too fast, but only due to the strength of the XP items. They really are a necessity for leveling (probably a touch on the OP side, imo), unless you want the leveling experience to feel closer to old classic (the XP tasks broken down by mob type was a good idea)! I'd rather the leveling be a touch fast than too slow though.
Been a week now almost. I've only experienced one crash and seen tons of people every night, very active chats and lots of groups. This is as close to how the game felt the first time I played it as I could have hoped for. I really hope this momentum continues, I'm having a blast.
