I have windows 10, can't log in. Daoc runs for a second going to a black screen then I go back to desktop. It's on task manager then disappears during this time. I've researched on the forums and tried numerous options.
-I tried dl'ing daoc and Phoenix clean twice.
-I've even just tried dl'ing daoc live , patched to Phoenix, then patched back to live, then back to Phoenix.
- I've turned off all firewalls, allowed all Phoenix and daoc apps to be unblocked.
-Run as administrator. Run not as administrator.
-Tried running off of short cut and inside folder.
-Both live and Uthgard have run fine recently.
I'm sure I'm doing something stupid, so what am I missing? I'm excited to get started help me message board you're my only hope! 😊

Have you tried running in windowed mode to start up? I couldnt launch until I set it to windowed manually

Go to - C:Users/<user>/AppData/Roaming/Electronic Arts/Dark Age of Camelot/phoenix/user.dat

open the file with a text editor, under [main] put windowed=1
save
then try and launch the game again

OK I figured it out just in case anyone else has the same problem. There was a windows security update from July 18 that was the problem . I figured it out because around that time I was having trouble getting steam to work. It's weird though b/c games like eso and grim dawn worked fine. Anyway I uninstalled the update and now Phoenix works fine. Hopefully this helps someone in the future thanks 😄

I don't see any update from July 18th. I uninstalled a security update from July 10th but I still can't get it to work.

It was actually July 14 sorry for the misinformation. That may be the day I actually installed it b/c with rl I'll go days without turning my computer on so maybe that's why yours is the 10th? It says I also installed a separate security update for adobe flash player the same day (14th) which I did not uninstall. Keep in mind im also doing the windowed mode trick that was mentioned earlier in this post and opening phoenix as admin from within the folder too as default now. Maybe that helps I hope.

So I found out the real fix. It's actually due to some spawn locations being bugged on some realms. For instance, Midgard has a bugged spawn location that gets automatically randomly set upon char creation. If you happen to be unlucky enough to get it then you cannot enter without crashing. So simply deleting and remaking the character until you get a non bugged location is the actual fix for this problem.
