Slow launcher and ALT TAB PC freeze

I've got back into phoenix recently and I've noticed that the launcher kinda stays stuck for a while, it never used to do this.
A bigger problem is that sometimes when I alt-tab out of daoc my whole PC will freeze and I can't do anything but restart the damn thing. I never used to get these issues. I have tried downgrading via the patcher tool, it hasn't seemed to work.

Would anyone know how this can be resolved? Has anyone had this?
I have looked but not found any threads.

Concerning the alt-tab freeze. I had the same issue a couple of times. This only happens to me if I use full screen mode. It does not happen when using the windowed mode.
What I also figured out: If you wait a couple of minutes, you will eventually drop LD and then DAoC clients becomes responsive again, telling you that you lost connection to the server.

Thanks for the info, I have tried going to fullscreen windowed mode, the resolution is not as good though and things seem pretty stretched. I could just be doing it wrong, I can't seem to get the same graphics cycling through the settings.
I'm probably going to stick with what I've got and just pray I don't get too many freezes.
