Playing from a different location

I brought my girlfriend's laptop with me to work. We generally have some downtime that would give me time to play. Am I at risk of getting my account banned since I will be playing from a different IP address and location?

Of course not. The only stipulation is that you cant have two accounts, or be dual logged. People play on their laptops all over the place.

Are you playing the same account? Or the one from your gf? If you‘re playing the same account on different locations u shouldnt run into any prolems. I‘m doing the same. Different PC‘s and different locations (but the same account of course).

That also doesnt matter so long as hes playing in the same realm on both accounts. Account sharing is allowed but under the stipulation that you cannot log in and out of two different realms from the same location. (That would be cross realming). So if they both play on Hibernia, he is free to switch back and forth but cant be on both (dual logging). If he plays Hibernia and she plays on alb, he cannot log out of his and log into hers on that same location(cross realming)

Yeah, but what if she's logged in at home on a different realm? And he's at the second location on another realm? Still ok since the location doesn't match? Probably, but I would not risk it tbh.

Correct, different locations it would be perfectly fine. However if they live together, they would both need to be playing on the same realm anyways.

Right, I forgot about that. Thanks for the reminder. So every scenario should be clear now for the thread owner.

You might want to make sure nobody else is playing at your work. Or if they are, that they are playing the same realm as you.

That is a funny thought but I guess it could be true.

Yeah, it occurred to me because I sometimes login from work to putz around, but I know I'm the only one playing. I think this could be an issue for people playing through a VPN or public WiFi too. It's not highly likely, but still possible.

Now there is a potential issue. What if I am away for work and playing from a hotel where another guest is playing a different realm?

Yes, Go ask your Boss if anyone else is playing DAOC at work because you don't want to get Banned.

I'm sure there are better methods to use than that.
