Newbie Question - Phoenix Freeshard

Hello i want to play a good pvp game and wanted to try daoc.Is this a classic daoc experience with no CUSTOM changes in rule?Long story short is as same as ORIGINAL GAME WAS MEANT TO be?

Also do you guys use addons for daoc also ? or basic UI is enough ? i wanna be a tryhard pvper i need the pvp friendly addons if they do exist.

Hi,
this server is based on 1.65 and has some added QOL changes. As Always: It totally depends on who you ask in order to answer the question concerning if it is as it was meant to be or not. This is way to much dependant on personal preferances and taste in order to do so.

You can use custom UIs. There is a thread on this forum listing those working and explaining how to install them.

It is classic-ish, 1.65-ish, with small tweaks here and there to make gameplay easier (ports instead of running everywhere, xp boosts to help with the grind but not eliminate it, etc.)

There are some balancing issues that the Phoenix devs are working on, but nothing so drastic and heavy-handed as the live developers are doing at the moment.

I would say that now is the perfect time to jump on the beta server and test stuff out, because not only do you have instant max level (50) you can also test classes at various levels with a command line (/level 34, etc) in order to test out specs for the two battlegrounds and dungeons.

Jump on in, the water's fine.

If you are looking for a true classic experience, this is not it. There are QoL changes, task changes, etc. that take it away from classic.

I'm going to walk back on my earlier comments and say that as of the last few weeks the changes have been extremely heavy-handed, nearly as bad as live. That being said the heavy handed changes might be to your liking so the best thing to do is log on and see for yourself before beta ends.
