Melee Cool-down vs Casting - A Thane Perspective

Hi. Thanks for the support first off. I have a question about melee cool-down and casting. As a Thane, I am interested in replicating the casting mechanic I am used to on live. While this may have been how it was in 1.65, it just feels wrong and it hard to get used to and can lead to mistakes.

If I do a single styled attack on a player or mob (e.g. slam or provoke), I am unable to cast until the cool-down has completed, which appears to be 3 seconds. Unless I consciously stop melee attacks by pressing the attack button to end it, the Thane will continue to do un-styled attacks until I ether a) get lucky and I get a cast off or b) I manually stop attacking it and wait out the timer. As the swing speed, even un-styled is less than the cool-down, it appears that the character will continue to swing over and over, preventing me from casting until I intervene. In other words, I can spam the cast button, but each new melee swing (un-styled) will reset any potential cool-down.

On live, the act of trying to cast a spell (e.g. Thor's Greater Lightning) would end any attempts at meleeing. There is a slight delay, but the action is stopped. While this may be by design both at 1.65 and 1.112x, it's a little annoying to say the least. Can anyone suggest anything, other than remembering to end melee before casting. It would be great if this could be looked at for a QOL change. Just to be clear, I get the need for a cool-down if it has to stay. It's the mechanic between casting and ending melee attacks that is the issue.
