Linux

Hi,

I saw a few questions about getting this working on Linux and I just went through the process and was able to get it running successfully so I thought I would post my method in case anyone else is looking for a walkthrough.

I got it working with Crossover Linux (I already had purchased this to make my life easier in Linux Mint - but there is a trial). I am sure there is a way to get this running without this program, but past experience has led me to believe this is my best way at least.

Steps:

1. Get crossover linux trial (buy if you want to keep it - they give you 2 weeks) - install it on linux
2. Create new "bottle" in crossover. Don't use the one that crossover tries to make you use (they have a pre-configured thing for DAOC that doesn't work) . Just create a new generic bottle of "Windows 7" type.
3. Install software into bottle - select the daoc installer file (rename it first because if you don't the program figures out what you are trying to install and makes you use their preconfigured thing - which, again, doesn't work - call it "DAOC.exe" or something instead of DAOCSetup.exe which is what it is called when you download it.)
4. Let that install - then start Dark Age (double click Dark Age icon in your new bottle) and let it patch.
5. Right click your bottle (outside container), choose the "open C: Drive" option. Then drop the Phoenix files into the Dark Age Of Camelot directory (C:\program files\electronic arts\Dark Age of Camelot)
6. Right click your bottle and select "Install software into bottle". Search for and install "Wine Mono".
7. In your bottle, click on "Run Command..." option and run the PhoenixPatcher.exe. Close it after it completes (mine kind of hung at the end in a black window but I just closed it after it stopped showing files being actively copied).
8. Go back to bottle, then click on "Run Command..." again, and choose the Phoenix.exe file this time. Also, there is a button there to let you create a reusable shortcut so this time - choose "Create Launcher" and it will put the Phoenix icon in your bottle so all you have to do is double click it next time.

That's it! Works great for me - running up to about 100 fps (I installed fraps to the bottle) on an AMD FX-6300/Geforce 1050TI.

If anyone has any questions, feel free to ask.

I did a sort of guide to get it working in wine a few months back. (basically just my own notes)
