launcher crashes

hello, new player. just trying to start out. I downloaded the launcher and did the patch. When I launch the game, I get the NF splash screen and then when it loads to the end it just crashes. Am I doing something wrong?

One more person wanting to play but can't get the game to load. Mine gets to the splash screen and about halfway through, then crashes.

It would probably help to post computer specs / operating system etc.

So far I've gotten the game to run on a SP3 (win8 or win10) with native graphics and an Asus notebook with windows 7 that has an Nvidia card.
