Getting many instances of game just shutting down when trying to port from safe zone into fighting area.

This happened to me as well.
Also, I don't know if these two things are related, but I've had wild lag since I've logged back on. Everything freezes and skips forward every few seconds. I was playing for 5 hours straight earlier in the day and everything was fine. I logged in a different game to see if it was just my connection and the other game ran fine. Not sure what's up.

4 times now .... gets tedious redoing healers bars =/

While this is understandably frustrating, one workaround for hotbars would be to logout and log back in while in the safezone of the event area.
This should force the game client to save the hotbars in the event that your suffer a linkdeath later on.
