Crashing to desktop after character select screen

Hi all, I have been playing awhile. Love the server but lately am having problems where off and on I will log into my character select screen, select a character and try to load. Sometimes it loads fine and sometimes it crashes to the desktop with the message not responding. I have changed my resolution repeatedly thinking that might be it. I made sure my graphics driver is up to date. I even reinstalled DAoC. I am running out of ideas, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Running Windows 7 64

I7-2600

16gb ram

Ive been having this issue as well, so far the only way ive been able to "fix" is to create a new character and then quit to char screen after
