Concerned and Confused and Exausted

I have been away from the game for a while. Then I returned I found the game broken and needing to be re patched, by the player DLing a real DAOC patch. I did that successfully and patched the game. Then I heard crafting and maps are STILL BROKEN. Now I understand there is still more patching I am somehow supposed to do to fix these activities.
1)I don't know and can't seem to get a straight answer in chat on what the heck is going on. Is the game fixed with what I've done ? Where do I need to go if I still need to fix crafting and the maps ?
2) I have now been away from the game for some time......exhausted and frankly frustrated having to fix so many things and not knowing what I'm doing. My wife still plays but her maps are broken and she doesn't craft. She keeps telling me to get back into the game, but I won't when I don't know what the heck I'm doing. I won't play with a broken game.

SOME CLARITY WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

Patch with Camelot.exe
Patch with Phoenix.exe
On the Launcher (login window): Click "Fix OF Maps" and "Fix Crafting"

That should do it.

Optionally you can find the post around here somewhere that gives you the info to restore the old icons.

Clicking on the maps fix or crafting fix giveslog in as administrator...what ever the heck that means

When launching Phoenix.exe, right click the icon and choose "Run as Administrator"

You can do that every time you launch, or do this:

Right click on the icon and hit "Properties" then "Advanced" and check "Run as Administrator"

It needs the proper rights to update the files.
