Cannot create characters

I have just created my account and installed the game but I don't seem to be able to create characters.

When I click on any of the empty slots and create the character, when I click "next" to finish I just appear back at the character selection which is still completely empty. I'be tried using default names, using different slots, and picking different race/class combos but I don't seem to be able to create anything.

Hi, I had the same issue twice today when trying to create a heretic. It turned out the class is not on the server yet. Try rolling a different class.

Some class/race combinations are not available at this patch level. The client may show Heretic or Minotaur as available, but when you create them, they simply won't show up in the character list.
