Cannot access house

Helped friend transfer his house using house deed, now I no longer have access to my own own house or merchants.

how did you "help" him exactly?

Usually it should not be possible to deed your house to a person that already owns one. If that was possible, that in itself was a bug, and probably is causing the problems with your original house permissions
