Can I make characters from different realms?

I played a long time ago so I don't remember whether I could make a character from 2 realms or not. I've tried on the character creation screen, just messing around seeing what looks right. Am I doing something wrong or is it just not allowed?

Sorry if this is asked a lot but when I tried to search it kept telling me the search was too vague.

You can make characters on all three realms here, but you must wait twelves hours after logging out before you can switch realms. If it wasn't letting you switch realms, that's because twelves hours hadn't passed yet, once the timer has passed you will be prompted to choose a realm when logging in. You can bypass this timer by deleting all other characters in different realms on the account.

If it wasn't letting you make a character, the most likely culprit is you were choosing a race/class combination that isn't enabled here, or were trying to create a class that isn't enabled here. Ah no it was the 12 hour thing. It makes sense and I was able to make characters on a new realm after deleting the previous one.

I just didn't want to get myself stuck as one realm, level up a bit then decide I want to try something else and lose all my progress.
