I used to play live for years my friend talked me into this so I followed all the instructions got my forum name which works but when I try to log in to make a charecter it says account invalid or not on file?

Use the mail address instead of the forum name.
Sometimes it seems the servers are not recognizing the username post initial game login.

I tried your suggestion same result my friend made me a new email and pw to try same result

Why would your friend create a new mail address for an existing account??

Please send me a PW with the email address you are using for login.
