Question about CC immunity rules

1. When you are CC'd by another player, how long do you have immunity (and I assume the immunity is 100%) ?

2. Is the immunity blanket for all CC types, or only for the specific type used against you (i.e., stun, mezz, or root) ?

3. Do the same rules of immunity apply to mobs in PvE ? I ask because it seems I remember that I have been able to re-mezz or re-stun a mob, but the duration was shorter each time.

4. Is there somewhere that one could read these rules, rather than having to ask a question in the forums ?

Thanks !!!

1. Immunity is 100%. You may not be affected by a similar effect until it is gone. There could potentially be some RAs that bypass immunities. I don't know if TWF still snares through immunity, and Static tempest doesnt work here, but it may potentially go through stun immunity. But Specific RAs would be the only thing that could potentially ignore immunity.

2.You only get immunity for the CC used on you. Stuns give Stun immunity, Mezz gives Mezz immunity, and Root gives root and snare immunity. Because roots and snares are basically the same thing just with a higher speed reduction value. There is no form of universal immunity. Snares in general do not give any form of immunity, with the exception of long duration instant snares from skald or valewalker or a few others. They give root immunity.

In Classic the immunity for any ability is 1 Minute. In later patches they changed the immunity to 5x the duration of the immunity. Here they have made it custom that immunity will be 6x the duration of the CC.

For example. 2 Second stun x 6 = 12 sec immunity. 5 second stun x 6 = 30 sec immunity.

So some stuns will give less than a minute, but any form of cc that is 10 seconds or longer will give you 1 minute of immunity.

3. No PvE does not have the same rules. You can chain CC mobs and every time you CC them, they are CCd for half the duration. So 30 sec first time, 15 sec 2nd time, etc. There is a break point where mobs gain immunity. Something like 3 or 4 times they can be CCd before becoming immune.

4. Your best bet is just to use the search function on the forum. I'm not sure of a place where this stuff is written.

Thank you for your detailed and helpful reply !!!

However, the part of it quoted above appears to be incorrect at this time in Phoenix. I was told something similar yesterday by one of the GMs in my guild. Rather than argue with him publicly, I tested it in a duel with another person at DL. I stunned him with my 9-second Hib caster stun. He got a 60 sec immunity. I then mezzed him with my Ment 34-second single-target mezz. He again received a 60 sec immunity. He then rooted me. I received a 60 sec immunity.

I realize that this is not an exhaustive test, but I feel like it was sufficient to show that all 3 types of CC currently give a 60 second immunity.

So what you stated may be the design the devs plan to implement, but it does not appear to be implemented yet.

It applies to melee stuns only.

Vulna above is probably correct in this case. The stun timers we tested were melee stuns, and i can confirm that all of the melee stuns 2sec to 9 sec, give 6x immunity. I was just mistaken in thinking it was any cc and not just melee stuns that do this. Also in your tests, the root and the mezz should both give a full minute immunity. 34sec x 6 = more than a minute, and the root is certainly longer in duration.
