Questing?

Hi all,

Just signed up for the free shard and made a Warden. Haven't played DAoC since my Atlantis expac and am a little lost. My character spawned in @ Howth, but there are no starter quests. I am guessing this is by design, but other than farming mobs towards the next town to earn Experience (am level 6 atm), are there no quests to be had?
When/where do they become available?

Thanks,
Docca

I'll weigh in as a new DaoC player with the limited info I have. The devs for Phoenix removed nearly all of the quests in DaoC. We have access to different "quests" in this shard.

/tasks will provide information for the daily quest of killing mob types
Phoenix Eggs were added as drops for solo players. You can drop them on any trainer for a substantial amount of XP
Group XP was ramped up massively, but Phoenix eggs in solo play can offset some of this if you prefer solo
http://playphoenix.wiki/collection-tasks-albion/ - XP Items - You can collect these off certain mobs. Checking the item info will tell you who to turn them into. These are massive XP gains

Got it - this is helpful. I noticed the egg feature and trigger some kill x amount of this type task completions but wasn't sure about the remainder. This wiki is great.

The XP turn in items are fantastic; I usually get a full level from a stack of 10. I did forget to mention one thing about them. You can only turn in 10 of each item per life of the character AND you can only turn in 10 per level.

Seems wise. Compared to the live questing, this system seems to allow players more flexibility in where they play and explore. Can't wait to log back in tonight.

Sure, but live questing was generally more interesting and gave a flavor for the world you were in. Ideal world would have both, but I understand this is a volunteer effort

From what I see on the wiki - this looks to be a work in progress to add more meaningful quests. While I do agree that main story line/compelling side story line quests add flavor, this method cuts the fat (meaningless collection quests) from the equation. Hopefully as the game evolves, the Dev team continues to develop meaningful quest lines that stick with you for multiple levels.

One thing about exp items that I see get a lot of people is that they stack up to 10, but they are handed in individually. So if you hand in a stack of 10 when close to a new level, some will actually be handed in at the new level and count towards that 10. E.G. Hand in 10 Foo at level 25.9 and only one counts towards level 25 and 9 count towards level 26, as the first one dinged you 26, and the rest were handed in after the ding. I have been trying to hand them in early in a level to avoid this.
