Is leveling strategy the same in all realms?

Im a bard in Hibernia and all my groups so far level by using a pet class with a damage shield and healers to kill tons of mobs at once. Its cool and is fast leveling but I notice any other classes are just brought on to sit and absorb xp or maybe not brought on at all. I wanted to make a Heroine bit have worried about that aspect.. So instead I'm considering making a female highlander arms or a warrior on mid if they actually use melee in their groups. Do groups on albion or mid use melee classes?

Hib has a pet class with a built in tank that's the core of their pve farm groups. The verd ani. In mid for example you use a healer to aoe stun and tanks are used to block or draw aggro so everyone else can aoe. Idk about alb always hated there.

But yes even In hib my hero got groups as a guard/intercept but if someone got aggro

Mid is more open to melee grp but by a thin margin only.
A quick view to /lfg channel and you can see than the vast majority of demand is for healer / pbae ,
Warrior / thane are welcome for gard and searched for, other melee are use for pull and only if you don’t find another sm / rm
Bomb grp are just too strong when is come to xp.

on mid you can find a couple of tanks and down mobs with healer's aoe stun + bomb
on hib you use ani's verdant pet as tank + bomb, no tanks needed
on alb you pet-pull with caba and bomb, no tanks needed

i was lucky i lvl'd my warrior when the server came up, it would be a nightmare finding group right now for anything other than heals\bomb

(done 50 on warrior, almost shaman, bard and now i'm on alb leveling cleric because a friend came back after more than 15 years rolling a pala)

Hi mate,

we've noticed the same and instead decided to "in guild" help eachtother level animists / mentalists / bombs with the goal to help eachother level the class they want to play in PvP / RvR eventually.
We are currently still in the levelling / gearing process and welcome everyone who wants to level and in return help level their characters and RvR with us within the next few weeks.

Give us a yell ingame or leave a msg here, we play most evenings after work (CET) and weekends and have a few members online during daytime usually who are farming / crafting.
Lamara - 50 Druid (reg/nurt)
Vafu - Mana Mentalist - levelling
Zugzwang - Verdant Animist - levelling
Vita Luna guild - Ex Hibernia Excalibur

After trying to Level in all three Realm I could tell you, Midgard is an easiest realm in finding/building groups. Quite each class could get a place in the group.
Albion has ever problem to find needed class, as alb classes are very specialized.
In Hib you should be lucky to rich the wave which brings you to lvl 50.

untrue. Midgard stealther classes have the same grouping problems like other realms' stealther.

Well , Stealther way is very special in DAOC. Choosing stealther class I have to understand, I will play most of the time solo or in a group with some other stealthers. In RvR and in PvE.
For regular group... just play a heal class and you will hate stealther in a group - they need all buffs, yes, they do damage, but they are very squishy and consume whole power of healers. And it means wipe for the group quite often. Although I had lot of times a hunter or an Infi in a group while leveling and in epic raids. And the best way to get a group as a stealther - to build one, which is easiest in midgard.

for PvE I disagree with your logic. In an ideal world no one beside the tank gets dmg....if you have CC or if no CC, the tank can do his f.... job properly with 4x BAF.

You see and there we are at the effective set up question and the role of each class in the group. And there stealther is wrong at place.

why? They do decent amount of melee dmg and in case of larger HP pool, have definitely an advantage through poisons / debuffs.
and if the tank / cc does his job properly, than the disadvantage of having a SB instead of a Savage is nothing compared to help the realm out equally by forming unconventional groups.

it’s not just the tank who manage aggro, other players must too.
One detaunt or not going full dps on a mob untaunt is just playing a dps well.

I agree. This behavior comes from the easy mode of PVE. Because most players blend out basic functionality of a class, because we are in a rush. In a rush for the best setup, for the best xp available and when at a new location we are already discussing about the next location in 45min when we dinged 3x.

Perception about classplay starts, when you spend more than just 2-3 hours at some spot so....basically when you ding 50

Yeah, hardest part of leveling in daoc is finding the good spot for the grp we have... and keep everyone for more than a hour ^^

That's why i've soloed my second and third char to 50. For some classes that's obviously harder though.

Pretty much any class that can kill at a decent speed can hit 50 solo in less than 24 hours /played and about half of that will be spent after level 40.
