So for endgame i was thinking hammer might be the best, for the backsnare. Is that the goto for RvR or am i missing something?

But what is it for levelling?
I have read hammer for levelling because of the endurance usage, but the growthrates of axe look very attractive compared to hammer

Anyone can elaborate this topic for a noob like me?

Axe has a great front style. If you are a warrior the mob should be facing you most of the time in PVE so axe works out well.

Interesting, surely sounds good for fullgroups.
Is it also worth it for smallmanning?

And what would you recommend för levelling?

Hammer taunt is at 15, so if you want to tank at low levels you might want to start with axe/sword (taunt at 6) and switch to hammer later.
