Warrior questions for Mid Noob

Ok so my friend is making the Skald, and I plan on making a Warrior to duo with him for awhile before moving back to Hib, so a few questions

1) Race - Warrior or Kobold? For PvE and RvR, is Kobold the better option for higher dex? I thought I remember something about Trolls being able to get same percentage to block as a Kobold after being temped, but is this true? Will Kobold block more? Will trolls to enough extra dmg to be worth it?

2) Stat points depending on race? How do I spec? I was leaning to Troll unless Kobold is a better blockbot and if so how would I spec his? Troll I was thinking 10str/10dex/10quick

3) For leveling, do I start with sword/axe until 15 then switch to hammer? Seems like I see every Mid class using hammers and I am guessing it is for the back snare. Are swords/axes better for lvling purposes or is hammer better for that as well?

4) Should I go weapon/shield for leveling or 2handed? I was thinking weapons/shield when with skald but what if I am soloing a few things, is 2handed more efficient for higher dmg, or is blocking just that much better?

5) I read a post about difference between Thanes and Warriors and it was kind of insinuating that Thanes might be better because shield size has no effect on Guard so you should be using a small shield in RvR anyway, but aren't warriors on the highest dmg table in the game? Are Thanes close? Does the Thanes SC make them more DPS overall then Warrior? Survivability difference? If Thane is a better option how would you build one for leveling?

1) I wouldn't make a kobold. Sure they are slightly better block/guard-bots, but they are the worst race for RvR. Personally I'd make a dwarf for the cool looks and body resist racial, but Troll is probably the best if you can live with the huge model.

2) I'd go 10 str/con/qui for RvR.

3) Weapon doesnt really matter much IMO on low levels. You'll be 15 in a couple of hours anyways. Just spec for whatever drops you get and respec when you go to turn in eggs (if solo).

4) The beauty of a warrior is that you dont have to chose Spec weapon/shield near cap and rest in parry.

5) Warriors deal way more melee damage and are also tankier than thanes and have Stoicism that reduces CC durations even further than Thanes can with only Determination. Thanes have other tools though, ranged damage, instant interrupts, AOE to clear theurg pets etc. They both also get situationally very good RAs.

As for leveling a thane, I went max SC with high shield and weapon lagging behind. Reason for this is so that i can play effectively in groups, and solo I'm essentially a caster. Once you get 18 shield and 12 hammer, you can stun, side snare, kite and nuke again to kill pretty tough mobs and barely take any damage. Just remember to bring combined regen, power and healing pots to reduce downtime to near zero

Example level 24 spec
23 SC
19 shield
15 hammer
