Starting on mid?

Hi,

So question time, I started playing DAOC about 2 months ago and started on Albion. I quite enjoy it there and got 2x LVL 50 1 is templated.

However, I find it very hard finding groups for RVR as a friar, and I really only enjoy that class on Alb.

So I am thinking about rerolling to Mid instead, and was looking for some class suggestions, I want to be able to find a group in both RVR and PVE, as well as being able to solo farm OJ/reds for plats and rogs.

What can you suggest that I start out with that can both group and solo effectively?

Best,

Except for a healer, every other class can do that.
i would start with a shami. simple and cheap temp, ae farm, money maker, healing, buffs for grp, .... well played a very strong class.
u can play it as a buff/healing class, as a disease/dot class, or both no need for buff barrels....

i dont like the kiting stuff, but thats up to u.

zerker are also a good choise. with reflex attack and lt weapons its crazy how fast yellow/ora mobs die. easy temp, good solo, nice bearmode

What class will get into stuff like DS and such? Is Shaman useful there? are there good places to AE farm as shaman? i know alb has some very sought after spots for cabalist.

Is the Bonedancer used in groups or mostly a solo class? they seem interesting with the whole multiple pets set up.

Can zerker find groups easy enough? from what i read on reddit, most xp teams just want aoe casters.

A darkness BD can suit well in DS groups and also can farm almost everything alone, not the fastest farmer but can handle easily purple mob in solo with a bit of RR

Also Suppression Spiritmasters (pbaoe) are good for DS, and hugely required for farming groups (DF or other spots), but cannot farm in solo (or better they can but it's not the easiest way). The supp SM is also a good spec for keep/tower fights in RvR, but you will need to respec RAs (in RvR you need Purge and MoC, that are useless in PvE and cost a lot of damn realm points!)

If you prefer the shaman consider that the spec for solo farming in very different from the one required for DS, the farmer shaman is good only to farm, and in big zerg fights in RVR (but lacking of Purge it's not so fun to go in RvR, believe me!)

Don't think about exp, you will find place in groups with almost every class (yes aoe casters are preferred but that's not a big issue), or you can easily level alone following tasks. Think about the endgame environment, which kind of game you'll be playing once you hit 50 and have the template done on your toon.

if i find a xp grp, fine. if not its not a problem zerker was in under 20h played 50, solo.

im not a ds or hoh pro, but i think that a shami is allway welcome there and a zerker too.bd can be the hardest hitting caster i think for hoh ds, for rvr...he has twf! healpets,pd and lifedrain..
there will be enough ae spots.
ds stuff: i think every class can do it, with the exception for hunter. i think this class wouldnt be the first pick

every class can be so differently skilled. once a buffer, another time a dot-guy, once a healpet and lt caster, once a dd caster ...
i think u must be clear what u want to do. do u want a caster or a melee? dd or supp?...

I think that for me, the main thing is to find a class that i can both find groups on, as well as solo, both for farming and rvr.

I prefer melee classes, casters get a bit boring for me.

Any of the tank classes are viable for soloing.

Thane doesnt get into ds much though. Fun to play

you want the jack of all trades hmm
solo rvr as a visible is really hard, only class that can do it is the skald

skalds also find their spots in rvr grps
not sure about DS because current mid DS meta is dark BD setup
skald ca chain oj/red pretty good with small down time

I'm a little late to this party but I'll give my advice as someone who has played mid since live was released.

If you want to play solo find a class with the utility to do that a Shaman isn't that class as you'll be respecing left and right depending on what you are doing.

Skalds: are great I'm not sure of the DS meta but they used to be wanted, you can solo in RvR and easily pull OJ/Red mobs consistently to farm.

Thanes: You may not get into DS but you can solo all day on Oj-Purple mobs, you can get in PBAE groups for farming, you can solo in RVR pretty well and you have some of the most fun abilities and RA's

Warrior: Same as a Thane except you don't have the best RA's, but will most likely get an RvR group easier depending on the people.

Berserker/Savage: They can farm Oj/Red mobs but not as effective or as fast as the above classes, they have the blandest set of RA's, but they are great in groups for RvR. I prefer a Savage over a Zerk just because I find the class to be more fun.

Bondancer: They farm great, get RvR groups, and also get invited to DS and HOH. This is the best class if you find yourself new and just wanting to be able to do everything be it solo or grouping. They also have a great RA set as TWF is just a hoot of fun.

Spiritmaster: Soloing in RvR not so fast in PvE, but will get to 50 the quickest and you can get in Modern farm groups for money and ROG stuff. They don't get as many groups in RvR, but I think people just undervalue them personally.

Runemaster: Solo in RvR haha... maybe if you play it solely and are very good! You'll get decent RvR groups and you can level with AE Spears or Pulsing BT, DS and HOH will be based on setup and meta. They have a great kit in RvR with NS and Damage!

Healer and Shaman: Support classes that with get groups in RvR and PvE, but you are very dependent on others to play these classes unless you are going to get good at playing a Solo Cave Shaman or a glutton for punishment and try to play Full Aug Healer!

Hope this helps if I was going to point someone to a class personally it would be Skald just because getting groups is easy and you can solo fairly well, but RA's are very group based. My second pick would be BD for easy of everything and thirdly a Thane just because they are fun to play and have lots of playstyles!
