- updated 25FEB19 -
So I was participating in the Zerg 2 days ago where we have been ~75 ppl:
Confirmed:
1. Adds do spawn every 20% of HP
2. Adds amount is based on the number of participants (engaging encounter, being present in the room tbc)
3. Fire-Type/Heat playerbased AOE spell (radius tbc)
4. Additional adds may spawn every 1.30min (none of the tries lasted longer than a minute )
@GMs:
Nosdoden reset to the middle after wipe, adds despawned, but its HP remained at 37%, went up slowly to 40% until we engaged another time and zerged it down ignoring the adds.
----------------------------------------------------
You will be able to run the encounter with 2 groups easily in a decent amount of time by either tactic (1 group tactic at the end)
1. Killing adds
Group 1: Healer, Shamy(decent mending), Warrior(max. PvE spec), Skald, 4x Single Target melee DPS (Zerk, Savage, SB, Hunter) - alternatively try a single target dps caster setup.
Group 2: Healer, Healer, Shamy, Thane(hammer n board), 4x AOE (RM, SM)
Setup: Tank, Melees, Skald are on Nosdoden, All other on 1100+ Range (Heatblase radious to be confirmed) on ONE spot.
Tactics:
- as soon as Nosdoden moves when engaging designate one player to watch the timing
- build decent agro and bring it to 82% and stop. Wait for the first addwave after 1.30min to check your pulling and dmg capabilities with the first addwave
- time based addwave spawns, thane AOE hammers in, healers groupheal to take aggro also of those adds having aggroed the melees in first place.
Hint: During that 'bomb-da-addz' phase ensure your heat resi is at its max, depending on the classes available.
- all adds run towards the huddled group, Healer Stun, Bomb/AOE em down -
Now you have an estimate, how much time you need to manage, control and kill the adds. Amend your tactics accordingly.
- Now, once re-stablished after killing the adds, check time until next time based add wave.
- if plenty time left, bring Nosdoden to the 80% mark and rinse and repeat the adds-tactic stated above.
- During this add phase the melees can bring Nosdoden to 62%
Rinse and Repeat until Nosdoden is down.
Comment: if no risk and adds stun/bomb is working so well that none dropped HP or needed to be rescued, you may want to think coordinating a time based add-wave and a % based add-wave together for quicker kill.
2. Controlling adds
Group 1: Healer, Shamy(AOE curse), Warrior(max. PvE spec), Skald, 4x Single Target melee DPS (Zerk, Savage, SB, Hunter) - you may try a single target dps caster setup as well.
Group 2: Healer, Shamy, 2x Thane(hammer n board), Skald, 3x Single Target melee DPS (Zerk, Savage, SB, Hunter) - you may try a single target dps caster setup as well.
Setup: All Melees + Warrior at Nosdoden, All supporters at 1100+ Range to Nosdoden, both Thanes in a 90 degree angle to supporters/nosdoden on max. Hammer AOE Range.
Tactic for Kiting:
Either Addwave, % or timed, Healing stop for a second or two, Thanes AOE hammer on the mobs, thus grabbing em and go running, Shaman is AOE snaring them constantly (3-4 casts) to ensure all got hit. Snaring is the key here in order to give the thanes more time to react and hammer new add waves.
D not proceed with DMG on Nosdoden towards the next % based addwave until the kiters got control of the mobs.
You can also replace the two thanes with 2 additional healers and grab aggro by Group Healing.
Tactic for Mezz/Root:
Bring instead of the 2 thanes other classes to AOE Mezz / AOE Root the adds - depending on your dmg done on Nosdoden, you may want to ignore an addwave (which should be around 10 adds if two FG) at 20% and just burn it.
---------------------------------
Tactics for advanced players (1 Group of SC'd people knowing their skillbar):
1x Warrior (PvE god spec), 2x Healer PAC n MEND, 2 Bombs, skald, 2x Melee Single Target DPS + Buffshaman outside group in the hallway/corridor.
Tactics:
All huddle behind nosdoden in melee range while the tank in front of it.
Either to 80% or 1.30min, let one add wave spawn, stun, group heal constantly ( u never know when the heat aoe comes along), bomb the adds - depending on dmg done on nosdoden, the melees help with the adds. Rinse repeat for timed/% based waves.
Gist out of this tactic is to eat up the AOE spell and outheal it, whilst saving time for running/grabbing/controlling the adds cuz all are in melee range.
Ensure that Nosdoden has couple of % left when the Bombs start bombing. You don't want to have another unplanned addwave whilst being busy with killing one already.
Enjoy - I am happy for other tactics you may come up with.
