How strong/weak are SMs in PVP here?

Hey there,
Was talking to some people earlier who said that SM's were nerfed hard in the patch that Phoenix is running on and that they are basically useless. What are your opinions?

It's hard to compete with the insane offensive utility of a BD. The SM brings stat debuffs and a demezz to the table while the BD can keep 2-3 people interrupted and assist nuke at the same time. The SM does slightly more damage when assisting a carver debuff but people don't consider the exchange worth it.

Don't play an SM but from my perspective the above is a good summation. A dark SM is kind of one of the last dps you fill for a caster group, and it doesn't really mesh well in a melee group. Meanwhile BD is pretty solid in any group, though susceptible to its pets being hard CC'd

actually SM aren't nerfed at all here, in fact they moved demezz, so it can be used in more specs.
BUT pbae needs LOS here and that is a huge nerf for the supp spec (as to all pbae specs).

the other specs compete with RM (has NS / bubble, bolts / debuffs) or BD (has way better interrupts and better pets). this and the fact that there are just too many of them (due to the pbae mania in pve) don't make it easy to get groups.

Dark SM has good synergy with the other mid casters in a 3 caster group.

They bring lots of utility and pretty good damage, just not the right kind of utility to be the single caster in a group.

PBAOE needs LOS? Christ sucks my first and only 50 was an SM....
