Farming class(es) & spot(s) for Midgard ?

When I played Uthgard, I played Albion, primarily because I had not played it extensively in live. Now that release is approaching on Phoenix, I am starting to give thought to my Midgard "plan", if you will, and I have come up with two questions that I would like to solicit input on.

My approach (and if you don't agree, that's fine, but please don't hijack this thread, since I am going to follow this approach regardless) to starting anew in DAoC is to create and level your farming toon first. This way, I can be making gold for crafting and templates while I am leveling my main RvR toon.

On Albion, choosing a farming class was a no-brainer. The Necro is the easiest to level and the best solo farmer in the game IMO.

This brings me to my first question: what is the best farming class in Midgard ? From what I know of Midgard (and I have played it a lot in live and on Phoenix beta), the best *solo* farming class should be between the BD and the SM, and the SM would def. be better for duo farming with a healer and/or buffer. Thoughts ?

My second question is what are the best farming spots (for gold and more importantly for salvage) in Midgard, both during leveling and esp. at 55 ? Again, this was no brainer in Albion. You went to Cornwall, and you stayed there until you could do Dunters in Lyonesse (late 20s). After that, you never left Lyon. Not only could you level to 55 there easily and quickly, but you could farm there forever, garnishing gold and tons of tier 10 salvage. If you wanna know how much the devs loved Albion, all you have to do is look at Lyonesse....

I am not aware of any region in Midgard (or Hibernia, for that matter) that even comes close to Lyonesse. I would appreciate input on the best spot to farm while leveling my farming toon and, more importantly, the best level 50 *solo* farming spot(s).

Thanks in advance !!!!!

Do you want people to ignore your posts? Because this is how you get people to ignore your posts.

I don't think there is a good answer for this question on this server. Tons of loot drops everywhere. From what I have heard (I haven't done any crafting in beta) is that since the drop rate of items is so high here that the salvage values have been nerfed.

You are correct in assuming that BD or SM is best farmer (shaman is also great, but requires very specific mob camps with lots of space to kite), just keep in mind weight as an issue and have a strength item to swap out to reduce running back and forth.

As far as locations to farm there isn't really one good place (just stick to frontiers for tinture drops). On my 50 BD I personally found that farming the xp items on blue-yellow mobs was pretty lucrative from just the salvage, vendor trash, and coin then giving away the xp items or saving for next toons. Salvage is normalized on this server (unless its been changed recently) because drops are very prevalent due to ROGs being higher drop rates, which may sound like a bad thing, but I personally found that you can still make coin quite easily.

My personal suggestion/plan is to leave my BD @ 48.5-49, so that I can swap his spec around (dark/sup for RvR then BA for solo farming) due to being free respecs from 1-49 on live. This way I could swap to dark for some RvR runs or soloing to work towards some early RAs to make the farming easier. I found being BA spec meant I could just healbot my pets with buffs and dmg add up.

Hope some of this helps, I found my BD to be pretty easy to solo with, but I never did an SM, they were always more group friendly due to bomb spec. BA spec on BD was groupable with AoE dot though, don't be fooled they can pump out decent dmg in a group as well.

Cave shaman is a pretty good farmer, you need to find spots that are :
- blue/yellow (orange can work with experience and a bit of stuff)
- with a lot of space to run
- pretty stacked together, so that you can pull as much mobs as possible with one aoe dot (a dozen is good)
- fast respawn or a lot of them

Once you hit 50 you have a lot of these mobs NW of Hagall.
