What's up with Hunters?

Hey guys,

I've recently encountered quite a few (different) hunters in Caledonia which are just unkillable as a Nightshade...

I have no clue what is going on, but every time i encounter them, with or without PA, they just win.....
And it's not that i don't have a clue what i'm doing, i use a total of 8 weaps to redot on every single hit, so it's pretty maxed out dmg output..
And yes, i'm fully temped, and buffed etc. I guess they are too (i hope) otherwise their power is even more whacked off the grid...

I really feel as if something is 'off' with the NS damage.
On live, even in the old days, an assassin was always stronger than ranged character, even if that char specced almost full Meelee..
Same with Perforate Artery, i get something like 200-300 dmg on PA, that's just a rediculous low amount, even for Caledonia...
(I remember in Cale PA's of roughly 300 (tanks) - 450+ (casters) - seems MUCH lower on Phoenix - unfortunately).

I always liked playing an assassin, but on Phoenix it seems to me that it's much tougher as assassin, then it is on any other freeshard or live that i have ever played.

I would appreciate if some NS'es can give some feedback on their thoughts, experience versus live/other freeshards etc.

I dont know about cale but many people I see ingame consider assassins way stronger than on classic live back at 50 RvR.

I run a nightshade in cale sometimes and I win probably 70% of my fights against hunters without ever using buff pots. Not sure what the issue here is but maybe you’re just that unlucky with evades or something.

Specced right a Hunter can put out more melee damage than a Ranger. That being said you're probably not hitting them with enough Envenom damage. Envenom is stronger than physical damage on this server and that alone should win you fights with little more than face mashing your keys.

i put a dot on every hit, which means maxed out Envenom damage...

But anyhow, i'm 100% sure something is not right, and it's not my spec, not my playstyle.

I guess if i'm the only assassin complaining that it can be totally ignored, but i have however, seen assasins say that i.e. perforate artery is very very low dmg output (lower than backstab.... which don't make sense).

Anywho, stealth classes won't get much love anyways ;-)

Not DOT poisons... debuff poisons... use the dot after you debuff them

Perf does low damage with low cs spec here. Lower than live. I saw a dev write something about it but it's equal/better with high CS or something like that.

I don't know about caledonia, but lv50, for the stealthwar assassins are miles ahead of archers. If you think/believe the ns will be bad at lv50, roll an archer and see what happens :p. Imo the bladeshade is the best stealther at lv50 in the game with the current ruleset (and this is a rather common opinion ).

Keep the innate thrust resistance of midgard studded in mind as well as the innate body, cold and thrust resistances of midgard races. Stacking these together really adds up and might affect your perception of how much damage you're actually doing.

Are you using was/com debuff? Or are you just spamming dots? If your envenom at 35?

What is your spec? What weaponskills are you using? Are you only at 21 CS? Then if course PA is going to hit like a wet noodle. It's designed to do worse at low skill and better at high skill than it did on live.
