Pierce?

So I've given the Pierce style list another looking over, and aside from the level 25 evade, I can't think of a single style (or style chain) that isn't better in CD or Blades. CD already sucks for anything but a BM Growth Rate-wise imo.

What are the thoughts amongst the Hibernian meleers regarding Pierce? I'm asking regarding Pierce and any class, so not restricted to dual wields.

Note: Alb's Thrust line sucks equally as bad, which I'm already aware of, so let's not get into that discussion.

As a BM mostly playing in group, I hardly ever have an opportunity to land the Diamondback style

For this to happen I have to find myself attacking another melee that isn't immun stun, who decide to face me and got enough defense for me to actually want the bonus to hit of the diamondback (Savage, or anything with a shield spec). And I have to actually dodge and actually hit the diamondback stun

The only style I really use in pierce is the side peel... and that's the main reason why I specced pierce

I like to peel !

Thing is as a peel BM you already have access to the rear snare style in CD. It's a lot easier to land a rear snare on a target that is running from you than it is to land a side style in the same situation

No need to choose. Just put the side and back snare as a follow up on ahk or any gaming mouse and you're good to go.

The game will automatically detect if you are side or back of the target and use the correct style accordingly.

I use tarantula (0.88 gr) + viper's bite (0.93 gr) on block when using shield (mainly vs friars).

When wearing shield I also use black widow (0.41) > sidewinder (0.71) > asp's bite (0.87gr + 22% attack speed debuff) but the 3rd style almost never lands despite having a high weaponskill.

Like he said, I don't necessarily aim for the side snare, I use both and whatever lands first

But I do prefere to use the side snare when I have the choice because it last slightly longer

Good points on both posts. I use the same technique when going for a shield stun on my Merc. I left Slam behind and use the side+rear stun together. On the Ranger I'd always go for the CD side stun backed up by the CD rear snare, but I never did have a backup for the rear snare when that was the primary focus. I'll probably start using the Blades side snare.

But beyond the Pierce side style, I'm just not seeing much good there. The input is good though, and I hope it gives others ideas on how to use the line to its fullest.
