Is a Firbolg a bad choice for a BM?

On live the Firbolg was not a bad deal for tanks. But yesterday someone told me that Firbolgs make no sense here because the dmg ist not so much bigger to other classes - the weaponskill has no effect to the dmg-output at all. And they are too slow (40 Qui).

Are these informations correct?

The problem with firby is that the meta is to peel, and with less quickness, you are a worst slam bot / peeler.
I would not say it's a bad choice in terms of stats.

I guarantee you the same people telling you Firbolg is a bad choice are the same people telling you to spec into Augmented Strength as a Realm Ability.

That should tell you everything you need to know about their opinion.
