Decided to go with Celt champion. Put 15 points into strength during character creation and I’m currently level 22 but I’m noticing I’m not hitting hard much at all even with LW and valor decently high compared to my level. Any other champions noticing this?

Grouped with a Celt spearo and he hit noticeably harder than me which I know is going to be the case but still. Tempted to make one of them now.

Champs should be on a lower damage table than a Hero AFAIK. So it would make sense to hit less hard. The champ’s bebuffs are CRUEL in RvR though, just so you know.

Yeah i know Heros are going to hit harder most of the time but the difference seemed like a lot. With how easy leveling is might as well try both out.

thats why champs should not spec in xp time LW, they make not so much dmg to overutilize a blocking champ with shields

Per my math, at least at end-game, the champ with self-buffs are almost exactly the same damage as a hero WITHOUT spec STR/CON buffs or charges. With this buff, heroes absolutely smoke champs. If it's even possible for the champ to catch up, it would be in his DD and debuffs.

By interesting comparison, while a buffed blademaster is going to beat a melee ranger on self-buffs, the ranger is appreciably ahead of the blademaster without a spec STR/CON, about 13%. This is because the ranger's quickness grows, while the BMs does not, even though rangers are actually on a damage table slightly lower than even champs, and their DEX/QUI buff scales to much less than a champ's STR/CON. (18 vs 19)

This is why a group has at most one champ, but will have multiple heroes or BMs. The debuffs are the only mitigating factor, the whole group can benefit from those debuffs, and they don't stack.
