Best PvE solo class?

I am curious which class(and spec) will excel in solo PvE farming. My current goal is cash farming via gold and salvageable drops, and to do so as efficiently as possible.

I have narrowed down the list to:
Animist
Mentalist
Enchanter
Valewalker
Ranger

I'm new to all of these classes so forgive me if the answer is obvious. Thank you!

I personally like the mentalist.

Aoe dots, pom, baseline stun. I can pull 3 full camps of leps via aoe dot and kite/redot and make bank doing it. If you have a friend to play druid then I would say animist is better. Solo I would go with a mentalist.

Thank you @Joc
Hopefully that will help the lurkers of this thread 😁

I have no friends so mentalist may be the best.

What are your thoughts on ranger? I read a bunch of articles about rangers being a great solo PvE class, but those were for the Live DAoC servers I believe.

Enchanter or Animist in Hibernia for farming. Hands-down.

Any particular reason?

I know chanter is great for pbaoe groups, but those are groups. Their solo ability appears to be good, but are they efficient?

I've always read, been told, and blindly thought that Animists were the king of solo PvE content until I started doing some research earlier today. Which lead me to more questions and thus this post.
I appreciate your reply!

I would still love to hear about Valewalkers or Rangers. Valewalker seems like a very efficient solo class. More than the Enchanter? Ranger.. I'd love to try but it's not a class I would want to spend time on if it's not worth it for solo PvE.

A Mana Enchanter focus-pulls on his pet with a wicked damage shield chant. The pet can kill multiple mobs with one pull (with due care for what you are hunting). The coin and items roll in. Solid PvE farming character!

I appreciate the info. Cheers!

Don't forget the most important overall point as to why a mana specced enchanter is by far the best caster class in game:

PVE you pbaoe (that bomb request all three realms seek out while melee classes are left to solo to end game)
RvR that same spec allows you to debuff damage types and nuke in rvr

PVE You have speed
RvR You have speed

PVE You have a pet to chain mobs for you and to focus tank in a group.
RvR You have a pet to interrupt, root, heal itself, etc.

The mana specced enchanter gets to have it all. Jesus, I should just delete my Thane now.

It really depends if this is a strict PvE solo class or not. Ment/Ani/Ench are all 3 good classes and fairly similar in terms of efficiency solo probably but I think the ment with aoe dot kiting would probably be better?? (unsure). It's close either way. Def not VW or Ranger since you are mentioning efficiency.. The two classes can hold their own but you will not be AoE pulling mobs so it won't be efficient.

Good luck!

With this thread's focus being on the best class for

a) PvE
b) solo

I would strongly argue for the Mana-Mentalist with a spec 46 Mana / 28 Light.

This way you can easily kill huge amounts of mobs at once by firstly gathering them by charming one of them and then AoE-dotting the whole lot (cabalist style).

What is more: Due to Mana reg 5 you have a great Manareg "for free".

To optimize output with little effort: Get 2L1, grab MCL 2 / Long Wind 1 / Tireless 1, and drink Endu 3 potions - practically endless mana with endless sprint!

I completely understand the reasoning behind Mentalist, which has me on the fence (once again) about which class to roll for solo PvE farming.

So of these 3 classes: Animist, Enchanter, & Mentalist, which would be most efficient at leveling? Does the efficiency of leveling go hand-in-hand with the efficiency of farming? I assume I will find groups to level with, but overall I still plan to solo PvE level.

From my no background experience opinion:
Mentalist truly looks to be a winner - AoE pulls and quick mana regen.
Enchanter seems close behind - Can AoE pull but your limited to your pet not dying, and possible mana issues?
Animist - This class confuses me but; your stationary so need a well populated farm spot. Mana an issue?

I see ments dying all the time trying to kill large numbers of mobs. Chanters are solid .

Menty - Does good at solo but you will want Tireless/LW + Endo3 pots to get permasprint and expect some slow moments when things don't all land right. The PvE solo spec doesn't do a lot for RvR though. The light spec is for RvR and is not nearly as good for soloing large groups.

Enchanter - Does good against certain groups of mobs and can clear areas fast and safe if you are careful. Mana useage can be high but mana pots alleviate this along with power pots. The PvE spec also happens to be one of the most popular RvR specs which makes it nice.

Animist - once you get this class down it can easily outkill any other class in the game hands down. It will need PoM and power pots and ideally tinders, but if you have these you can kill massive camps quickly and efficiently. You will die a lot learning how the class works, but it doesn't take that long really. The PvE spec is still decent in RvR but really only for keep defense or keep takes, pretty lousy for roaming groups. The RvR spec is better at keep defense and keep takes, but still pretty lousy for roaming.
