Why Craft ?

I love crafting. I like games with crafting. THIS IS NOT AN ANTI CRAFTING RANT. Just a simple question. Is crafting pretty much about planning for the end game(and being equipped exactly how you want) ? You get good drops with nice procs all the time. You level up fast to new equipment requirements all the time. Yes I like making arrows for my archer so he has the best. But tailoring ? Perhaps the ablatives your alchemist can make for your characters? Is money really needed in this game...so that's why you craft in this game ?
Your thoughts please.

PS the crafting itself is a stunningly boring grind in this game.So fun ? not so much.

Armorcrafting, Tailoring, Spellcrafting and Alchemy will be used to create pieces that fill holes in peoples templates.

You may not make a ton of money from commisions but the crafters will be in demand, as people get templates.

Crafting is a means to supply the players with a possibility to fill in the gaps on stats. The RoG drops makes templating characters VERY EASY on phoenix server. but you still need to craft armor and weapons to get your stats capped up.

Why craft?

Because if you do it right you can use it to make an incredible amount of money, especially at this point in the server’s life when there is a huge run on goods in housing. On top of that you don’t have to rely on people being flaky, overcharging you, or not being available when you need something made. Your draught of combined forces is running out? You need to SC a few items for your template? Easy peasy. No need to awkwardly reach out to unresponsive people to get something done.

If you’re hoping to make a good template with just the RoG gear then I think you’ll be disappointed. Your procs will be subpar and it is highly unlikely that you’ll get all the stats and resists you need covered. You’ll have a ton of wasted util for sure.

Now, that’s not to say the DAoC crafting system is fun— it fucking blows. Though the changes made with /craftqueue buy and /craftqueue do make it a lot more tolerable to trudge through the tedium of leveling up a craft.

Crafting itself, clicking the actual buttons is awful in daoc. That said, creating your own template and figuring out the spellcraft etc still makes it one of the best and most satisfying systems around imo.

And like others have said, the reason you do it yourself is to save yourself some time in the future, and to be of help to your friends and guildies. Can also make a small amount of cash on the side.

For convenience, level spellcrafting
For cash, level alchemy (probably... not sure about this specific servers economy) EDIT: or salvaging.
