Hi guys,

I´m starting again with DAOC and I´m very happy :-)

I try to do a Theurg, but I have no clue how to spec him.

My question is:

-Which spec for PVE leveling solo and group play?
-And which is the best spec for group RVR in the late game?

Many thanks and see you out there :-)

My suggestion would be:
- go full ice until 25 (lvl 50 pet with the biggest nuke; feel free to get 2 earth for that personal bt)
- get 35 earth after that (8sec pbt)
- then either got 41 ice (2nd to last nuke) or
- go 32 wind (lvl 50 stun pet)

41 ice/35 earth is rather common as you get the 8sec pbt, 60 sec earth pets, mele-dehaste as well as the highest lvl ice pet, nuke and an aoe snare.
35 earth/25 ice/32 wind is similar but will turn you into a pure pet spammer (no nuke/aoe snare to speak of but you get stun pets).

Not sure if the 48 earth pets get the run speed buff (think that happened in a later patch tho) because if that's the case you could also go 48 earth, rest whatever.

Groups (in general) will like you for dmg add and haste (also: pbt depending on the situation) as well as the dmg your pets can dish out (sums up over e.g. the 60 seconds an earth pet lasts and the nukes the lvl 25 ice pet has).

Specs don't really vary between rvr and pve but there's also the nuke spec (45 wind for the nuke, ghetto-mez and stun pets with the left overs in either earth (pbt) or ice (lvl 50 pet)) to keep in mind.

I have seen a few theurgists leveling (of course you are leveling to 25 ice) and struggling with their mana/kill rate & wanted to provide a few tips. You rarely need 3 pets to kill a yellow. You never need 4 to kill an orange (if spirit vulnerable you can average 2.3 pets per orange kill).

You can kill yellow with on average 2.1 ice pets. Get to greater than 1500 (or is it 1350) range from the target, so that your first pet only runs a little bit before nuking.Cast one pet, (1) strafe left or right a bit & then cast the second pet.
Don't wait for that mob to die. Target the next mob, turn 50-70 degrees away from the target in the same direction you were strafing, cast 1 pet, strafe in the same direction & cast the next pet. repeat. You should maintain 3-4 mobs at a time until you get low on mana.
Stop pulling when your mana gets to 10%, don't go dry so that you have enough mana left for an extra pet cast and qc pet (qc a pet lets you go into 'pseudo' negative mana) if needed; then rest to full.

1. The reason to strafe between casts it to separate your pets enough that both don't end up in melee with the target. As soon as they get to melee range, the pets will switch to their low damage melee attacks. If both pets end up in melee, it is because you did not strafe far enough.
If your pets don't finish the target off. Step back a little bit and cast a third pet; DO NOT try to finish it off with a nuke. Spell resists are very cumbersome while leveling & a resist will make you expend more mana then if you just cast a third pet.

Can confirm that. I'm struggling a little with finding out the best amount of pets - undead are np as you said but some others either have a higher absorb and/or hp pool (not necessarily resists).
Never died to a single mob yet (those pesky hibs don't count)

The straffing tips is very important, your damage output will be much more high with it

Once you get some RAs, like MCL and Serenity, you need to find what works best for you. I find that sometimes for an Orange (with resists) casting 1 Pet then casting 2 Pets isn't enough, so I'll watch the HP of the Mob and cast a 3rd pet to ensure it dies. I can still pull 3 Orange Mobs this way at lvl 48, then pop MCL and a campfire.

Instead of strafing I like to run backwards because I can set my spacing more exact, while also avoid strafing in to mobs. Maybe in RvR strafing works best, I haven't got there yet though .

I prefer running over strafing aswell. My theu is just 21 and 1L2 tho so loooong ways til mcl and stuff

I recommend strafing over running as there is client side character momentum. Such that if you try to cast as soon as you stop moving, you may interrupt yourself.

Even if you are lvl 5 or 10 or 20...do some RvR tasks alone and get 4-5k RP's in a few hours and your life will be SO much easier.

No...watch the RvR tasks. This is a bit cheesy but it helps drastically at lower lvls.

If you see an RvR task that says Dominate Breifine...if you click your task button you will see a score that says something like 1200/9800 which means when that reaches 9800/9800 it will end.

What you do is you run out to breifine and you make sure you are in that zone and you find any enemy players and you try to kill them. It doesn't matter if you succeed or not, if you win then keep looking, if you lose you /release back to your portal keep.

If you are low lvl, at this point you just stay logged on to your character and go back to leveling, as soon as the rvr task ends, you will get about a bubble of xp and around 690+ RP's just for participating.

The next task will pop up and you want to do whatever you need just to get participation credit again, then you go back to leveling until you get the RP's.

I soloed on my hero yesterday and just running out to do these tasks and releasing when I die and solo leveling, I ended up with around 7k RP's for only like 7-8 tasks I participated in. I am still learning what I need to do to get credit for certain tasks, but most are easy.

Of course sometimes a Mid group will roam the boarders just to kill people before they enter for the credit, but hey, whatever makes them feel better LOL.
