I'd like to try a solo minstrel with stealth abilities.Could group with stealthers or solo . My first thought was a HIGHLANDER,SLASH....50 instruments,36 stealth ,rest slash weapon.
Your thoughts please ? What do you think of viability on the frontier either solo..or in stealth group.Yes I would hope to get close to 50 composite stealth.
Thanks.

There is basically just one spec with stealth: 50 instruments, 33 stealth, 30 slash
If you want your stealth skill at 50 below RR7, you would have to drop slash below 29 which is quite bad as Amethyst Slash is just awesome.

Thanks
Thoughts on weapon style or race ?

Are you aware of the minstrel stealth changes on this server. If not I suggest you check them out. If you already know and want to solo as a stealther, I'd go sac, with thrust.

Id just skip stealth all together and go 44 slash or thrust ( I prefer thurst I think)

I don't know what changes you are referring to? Please help me understand ?

stealth was apparently nerfed for minstrels, where you can be detected by assassin classes from a mile away. I think the stealth hierarchy is assassin>archer>minstrel so it will be very tough to get the jump on any other stealther and you will likely be jumped by many of them. This is all from what I have read, I went 50 inst/44 thrust and its pretty fun.

How are you liking 44 thurst, and what weapon do you use? I am currently 50 inst 44 slash, and debating switching to thrust

I like it because it has a 2 style anytime snare, so i can not only interrupt, but be snaring their back line as well. In theory this should help my team extend and potentially range their healers. its also fun, id go thrust.

Wyvernfang (44 thrust) being an anytimer combo with a very long (27sec) snare is quite good. However there are significant downsides. The pre-requirement style Tranquillize (18 thrust) is pure garbage, especially the missing to-hit bonus bothers me a lot as you have to hit two styles in a row. The 0 growth rate doesn't help either. Additionally, you cannot just attack the enemy while running past, you have to stick and make a 2-hit combo which really slows you down.

In comparison, Side Slicer (21 slash) requires you to hit the enemy from the side with no to-hit bonus either and a much shorter (12sec) snare, but it has no pre-requirements and a reasonable growth rate of 0.6. When I have to peel a savage from my caster friend, I prefer a short-duration 1-hit snare over a long-duration 2-hit combo, but this might not be true for all situations. If I cannot land the side-requirement, I blame myself and not the spec. :-)

In the end, it is the awesome Amethyst Slash (29 slash) anytime style which gives slash the advantage over thrust.

Wouldnt it be better to go Skald if you don't plan to use stealth?
Better dmg, more hp,and frankly easier to play.

Skalds do more damage than minstrel ?

2h vs 1h dmg+ midgard has races with much more str so yeah they hit harder.
Skald base class is tank,Mins is stealther.
Mins is a utility class,i believe the expression is "jack of all trades ,master of none",mincers are not really massive dmg dealers.
Only advantage i can think of is pet charm.

And this is just my opinion but if your meleeing with minstrel you'r playing it wrong, and although stealth is kinda nerfed for mincers its a great way to run away from visible groups ,you get climb walls and you can run with stealth groups.
Best spec so far for me is ,as already mentioned,50inst/33stealth/30thrust.
My inital spec was 37stealth/25thrust but enemy assassins see you so not worth spending so much.

Only thing i would change,i would go Briton instead of Saracen.

Hope it helps,good luck.

Yes, a freaking red pet is the "only" advantage. I guess you have zero Minstrel experience given you did not call it "THE" advantage?!
