Hello Everyone!

Stopped playing 5 or so years ago, I was looking at trying DAoC out again and stumbled across this Phoenix server. It says it uses the 1.65 version, can someone enlighten me as to what state this leaves a few characters I want to Play?

I was first and foremost an Infiltrator, however, I grew tired of the on-again, off-again nerf bat, what is the Infiltrator like in 1.65?

Of course I will play and test it out, but I do not want to invest too much time to be disappointed, I miss the glory days of winning a battle if the PA got off, lol!

Mercenary was my other favorite, but if 1.65 is "classic," I suspect that might mean the classic mercenary that was without much ooomph, when I last played 5 years ago they were improved and certainly fun.

Thanks in advance! How many people play the pay version now anyways?

The major differences in the version is that there's no ToA, no Catacombs, no Labby, but we do have NF. It's using a modified version of the NF RA's (no RR5 ability). But there are a lot of improvements or QOL in this server, you can look at all of them in the server's wiki http://playphoenix.wiki

Can't say much on the infil as I don't play one, but the merc is very good, the charge is a bit different, but they can climb walls!

Also in this version there are no heretics, vamps, locks, bainshees, valks, maulers and no cow race...

It's a full custom server with templates from 1.65...but lots of cosmetic options to look like a different era.

A real 1.65 era infil would rip here...but assassins are pretty dumbed down/nerfed from 1.65.

A lot of folks will go out hoping to get jumped by assassins...that should tell you something.

That has more to do with Every one have access to top line buffs and gear vs only those who are hardcore (most assassins)

In the same boat since gear is easy you also have some trash assassins

If you are interested in playing Stealth, NS would be the choice for you, or SB.
Infiltrators are good in low RR vs other low RR stealther, but fall behind on higher RR vs NS and SB. (NS are arguably the strongest assassins thanks to their Hib leather).
