Question about the mechanics of Dual Wield and its styles

Say a Mercenary or Infiltrator has DW maxed, even with his level.

Let's say he also has his weapon type (crush, thrust, slash) maxed, even with his level as well.

Is there any benefit to using DW styles over other weapon styles? Do they hit both weapons, etc?

No, increasing DW just increases your chance to swing with both weapons, gives you access to the styles, and boosts the damage of DW styles. So if they are equal, just use the best styles.
