New player, some questions - Phoenix Freeshard

Hello all,

I've always wanted to try DAOC and I finally have the opportunity, so I'm excited to find this server. I had settled on Albion because I read in a few places on this forum that Albion are currently 'underdogs' (for lack of a better phrase). My concern is that as a brand new player I might have difficulty levelling and grouping on Albion. Can anyone put my mind at rest on this please?

Also, I'm torn between Infiltrator and Reaver. I usually play healers but for a change I wanted to try melee dps. I like the sound of both classes. Could anyone shed some light on them? My main points are:

- Solo and group play. Are they both viable? Will I have trouble finding groups?
- I like to wpvp, group pvp and raid. Are they both viable? I don't need to be an OP class, but can they hold their own?

For PvE Raids at least the Infi is a social room only.
For RvR - the best way to ensure the group place as a melee dps - take a classic det tank. In Albion these are an armsman and a merc.
Cleric is always a good choice - there is always lack of cleris in rvr and pve raids.

I started a cleric last night and I was getting 1-2 messages every hour for people wanting to group with me. The buffs/support is a massive boon to any group.

Reavers are a Det tank here as well.

Infiltrator;
For PvE: You can only fill social spots in groups. Ofc you can find groups during lvlin but Its much more harder than a tank/healer/casters. During the boss fights, you won't be chosen first.
For PvP: Your option is either solo or stealther group. Infiltrator is not an 8 man setups' choice.

Infiltrator class needs a bank char to support it with cash,item etc... So you need to lvl a cash maker then lvl it. Cashmaker toons are : Cabalist,Friar,Necro ( I hate it, Its uber boring ) and you need to lvl salvaging with your grind character also.

Reaver:
For Pve & Pvp : You can always find a space in either raids or rvr group setups. you can also solo whenever you want with buff pots. ( I am also playin reaver

Hey buddy!

Both classes are a lot of fun!
Reaver is very dependant on positional styles and do well in groups while infil is a more behind enemy lines and kind of hit and run solo or smallman with other assassins kind of class that hit hard first few styles but are beaten by mercs and reavers in the longer fights!

You should play what you feel seems interesting and as you learn more about the game or see more of the class mechanics make something else that catches your interest!

DAoC has a disgusting amount of variety strown across three realms and you kind of have to learn all of the classes to be able to do well in RvR!

I would recommend that you make a Paladin, Necro, Cleric or Ice Wizard as your first character to have an easy time finding groups as well as farming at 50!

You can of course do well in the farm jungle with any class if you manage to join a helpful guild or alliance!

IMHO you wont have any problem lvlig any class atm,with grp class bonuses and the current population and the fact that alb are lvling up slower than other realms there are groups everywhere,literally.
Play what ever you like.
As people above said Reaver for group ing,Inf for soloing/stealth groups (talking about endgame here)

Do yourself a solid and don't choose infil as your first class because grouping is going to be a pain. If you're interested in reaver then roll that first and make a infil your 2nd toon.

If you make anything other than a caster arms or a healer you prob wont get a group.. these frikin euro sheep here are (was gonna say picky) assholes about it.
