I played Daoc from 2001-2002 as a Minstrel. I just started last night on the Mid side with a bone dancer. Fun class but my calling is Albion. The Necromancer class seems very interesting and I don't remember that class when I used to play.
I need some help, I don't remember anything in this game and I have a few questions
1. Advice on a leveling build for a noob Necro
2. Should I wait till I hit L50 before I start RvR
3. I was reading about the best gear in the game can be purchased with Feathers and I get feathers from raids, Any active guilds do raids?
4. Should I save my money for anything particular while I level?
5. Do I need to craft and if I do, what should I train in

Sorry if these questions seem stupid but im relearning a game i loved back in the day.

just go xp, you wont need to spend money, drops are much better than anything you can buy when leveling.
you wont get rvr tasks till post 35, but you can get easy welfare rps from those. just hit something or suicide on a keep.
youll find out all the other shit by the time you hit 50. ppl like to bitch about lvling here, but its quite easy.

Welcome back,

Necromancer along with Cabalist are known as the farming class here. Necro is very easy to play and is loved in PVE. I think the cookie cutter build for XP grinding is deathsight.

As far as RVR when you get level 35 you can join grinding groups in New Frontiers for XP and turn in your soil, I believe this counts towards the RP tasks and usually nets you about 500-700 RPs

Dont waste your cash buying the task turn in items. In about a week of casual play on my Cabalist I went from 1-40, and realistically you could get 1-50 as a necro in a couple days of dedicated play.

As far as crafting goes, look into getting tinkering/woodworking first. You can salvage crap ROG and make more money 1 Arcanium jewel box for 20 arcanium bars nets like 50 vendor gold.

Firstly,

Welcome back ! and I'm glad you chose Albion ! We need more !

When the time is right, we need more Minstrels ! =)

In response to your questions:

1). Levelling a necro is very easy, you have 2 functions with available to you in death sight. You can solo by chain pulling orange and red ; justmana tap twice, life tap during the fight - rinse repeat.. In groups, you'll be battery feeding mana to the casters/clerics. Alternately, you can spec to bomb and join AE Bombing groups - you will be loved - minstrels will sing songs about your levelling speed and destructive power...

2) RVR - You can/should start at 35 by completing rvr tasks which rotate like, every 30 - 45 minutes.. /task for info.. Run up to a keep to attack it and in 30 - 45 minutes get some rp and exp for your time... Those RP's you'll want Longwind / Tireless first for perm sprint. After that, I liked Wild Power for my necro, get them crits in !!

3) Feathers - Man, Necro is the class for you. Raids need and love you for your battery abilities.. Feeding the clerics and theurgists mana will be your bread and butter and you will receive many feathers for it. You'll earn many feathers in Sidi Raids / Darkspire and HoH runs (which are 8-person instances that take a little training and practice).. Lasly, there are almost always a group running Lynn Barfog who love necros (batter) and there you can earn about 8k feathers / hour.

4). Money, you'll eventually want a template, that will cost you 4-8pp, also combined forces and combined region pots are 100 charges and cost around 500gp each. You'll want these.

5) Crating? not necessary.. That said, necro is one of the best farmers in the game. To fully take advantage of this you'll want to be able to trinket. If you follow this guide to a T - you'll be able to make decent cash farming while watching a movie... https://forum.playphoenix.online/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=4141

For levelling, make sure you type /task realm .. Here you'll see daily bonuses. Follow the encounter types that give 150% - 200% xp bonus and go kill them.

Lastly, get into a guild where you can benefit from the guilds running Exp bonus.

Cheers
